    Renowned Lollywood actress Shabnam visits Lehri's house

    Renowned Lollywood actress and the 13-time winner of the coveted Nigar Award, Shabnam, who is in town after several years, met Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad at his official residence and veteran comedian Lehri on Tuesday.

    The governor welcomed the famous actress and her husband, Robin Ghosh, to the city and told her that there was great regard for the legends of the past in Pakistan. Shabnam appreciated the role played by the governor in caring for artists such as Mehdi Hassan.

    The actress also said that she was gravely concerned over the situation in the city, but noticed that Karachi was still full of life. Shabnam also met veteran comedian Lehri and inquired about his health.

    She said that she had worked with Lehri in a number of films and urged the government to pay special attention to the legendary comedy actor. The actress shot to fame with her 1961 Bengali film 'Harano Din' and later with Urdu box office hit 'Chanda' in 1962.

    The actress has worked for both Pakistani and Bangladesh film industries. She worked for Lollywood in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and in the Bangladeshi film industry in the 1990s.

    Born in Dhaka, she was considered a versatile, romantic and most popular actress.
