The topic concerned starts one hour into the show, after the news. I'm just about to listen to the second half of the show now.

Supposedly, it's about whether or not parents have failed if their kids abandon their religion?

The first half was interesting in it's own right. It was whether or not it was okay to eat with your hands?

I must say that I enjoy eating rice and curry or rice and daal with my hands. I do it in the privacy of my own home though or with relatives. It's not something I'd do in public.

Alom is on from 01:17:00 onwards. He communicated his ideas very well.

The interviewer came at this with noticeably opposing bias. He repeatedly described the topic as "contentious" and "sensitive", sounding like he wanted to bring the butt-hurt crowd onto the phone lines and seemed to purposefully refer to Alom's "loss of belief" in the negative.

Yeah, I felt that as well. But you have to remember, the primary listeners are run of the mill Asians for whom a fairly public confirmation of apostasy is usually out of the ordinary and if you like, sensitive.

The BBC Asian Network tends to be pro-religion.  I guess because most of its listeners are religious.  But alas! they have to tolerate Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs (etc), so they end up doing some damage to religion, in my opinion.  Children from religious families need to made aware that there are so many other perfectly sane and decent humans who follow a different religion.  They will either be forced to question their beliefs or, at the very least, learn to tolerate them.
Anyway... I'm rambling off topic. lipsrsealed
