2 .It is steeped in a culture that encourages conformity and discourages diversity
Yap... individualism is haram in the Arab world. Everyone should have the same thoughts as the father, grandfather, mother, uncle, classmate, colleague, etc, etc
You'd notice in my little society that there is no individualism even within the scope of what people wear and what kinds of cars/etc to buy. Around three years ago I bought pink glasses for my poor eyesight but all people had to throw annoying comments at me just because they think they looked weird and no one had pink glasses except me
And the cars in my hometown, they got to be either black or white. No colours. Just like what people wear... white for men and black for women.
6. Deep feelings of inequality with others in terms of results and achievements makes for a sense of inadequacy that is sublimated into an exaggerated and unfounded pride
Lol... saudi and proud, qatari and proud, muslim and proud, etc, they keep saying that because they got nothing to be proud of except their nationality/religion. I've noticed that..
8. The prevalence of what I call the ‘big-talk culture’, in which overblown rhetoric is used to compensate for the appalling lack of concrete achievements
This reminds me of stupid modern Arabic poetry/literature... superficial and a waste of time most of the time
9. A lack of objectivity and the growth of individualism
Lol just read this.. the second part is weird!
10. An unhealthy nostalgia for and escape into the past
yaaaap... this is also clear in arabic literature.
14. Setting great store by the conspiracy theory and believing that the Arabs are always the victims of heinous plots hatched against them by their enemies
true, but most muslims think like that! (of course i'm not saying all arabs are muslims though
)
15. An ill-defined sense of national identity: is it Arab, Muslim, Asian, African or Mediterranean?
Yaaap
17. The prevalence of an insular culture that knows next to nothing about the outside world and the real balance of power by which it is governed, let alone the science or culture of others
very very true!! come to my hometown. my people live in a bubble. they don't know that there is an actual world operating outside of it!
18. A lack of appreciation for the value of the bond that links the human species together, which is their common humanity. For most people in the region, the only bonds that count are either tribal, sectarian or nationalistic, although humanity is the most exalted common denominator of al
which is why they find it hard to understand humanity I believe! I agree!
19. The spread of a mentality of fanaticism due to a number of factors, the most important being the tribalism that dominates the Arab mind-set to varying degrees
true. i can see my hometown as an example for this too..
with best wishes
(lol)
