The main reason i find religion unconvincing.

All these different religious groups doing all manner of seemingly stupid rituals, and believing in all sorts of seemingly supertitious mumbo jumbo. They all seem crazy, and even in the best case scenario, at least some of them are.

The religious of course, will claim that their rituals and bullshit are special. Not like all the other rituals and bullshit.
Well... Fine. Let us assume that there may actually be a single true religion out there. we are no better off for knowing that.
It would still be the case that those with divine knowledge and truth are absolutely indistinguishable from those who believe in a false cult. Their religions would still all seem to be equally as dumb as everyone else's.

Why are there so many people who believe some different mythology to theirs? and believe in it equally as strongly as they do? Don't they even find it suspicious?

Of course it isn't suspicious. Just like how everyone seem to have their religion based on their parents' religion...

This was the initial spark that got me thinking about whether Islam was true or not. When I was quite young (11, 12) I remember wondering which religion was the "correct" one. I basically started studying different religions, and different sects of Islam and other religions, in a very earnest quest to find out which of them was the true path, since all religious people seem equally convinced that their version of their religion is the right one. I had it in the back of my mind that I'm sure it was the religion I was taught, but I was always a curious person, and I wanted to know why other people thought theirs was the right religion. This is why I firmly think that instead of shying away from teaching religions, children should be taught about ALL of them (or at least all the major ones) in equal measure. This develops critical thinking organically, internally, and teaches children and young people to understand other people's points of view.
