  • My website in Arabic
     OP - October 09, 2012, 04:57 PM

So I have finally finished translating my website into Arabic.

    http://explorethemed.com/defaultar.asp

The text on the maps and in the database I did myself. The longer paragraphs of text I hired a translator to do.

But it was still a lot of work. I had to read the Arabic text left to right in Dreamweaver, I guess because I do not have a specialized "Arabic" version of Dreamweaver. So I am now pretty good at reading Arabic both right-to-left and left-to-right. Lol.

For now I have only translated the Ancient period. I am planning to release a part 2 about the Medieval World which will include a lot of info about the Rise of Islam.

But for now my goal is to try to get the website popular in Arabic speaking countries with just the ancient stuff. Then once it already has a following I will launch the more "controversial" medieval period stuff.

Anyway please share the site on any Arabic forums that you know of, also let me know of any grammatical / spelling mistakes.

Out of curiosity do u have a degree in history or is it just a passion/hobby of yours ?

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

It took a while but I finally got my "Rise of Islam" interactive map and text translated into Arabic:

    http://explorethemed.com/riseIslamar.asp

Translated name is الفتوحات الإسلامية (Islamic Conquests)

Let me know if there are any errors, particularly with the text on the maps (I did that myself), the text below the map was translated by a native speaker.
