Well these are definitely NOT music from my generation, but the first time I heard American Pie was when I was about 11 at the markets on a family outing, and has been with me ever since (in my head - fuck I love this song ).

Also heard some of Bob Marley's songs when I was about 4 or 5 when we lived next door to a group of awesome islanders who practiced reggae all the time (they had their own band). So when I grew up and heard Bob Marley for what I thought was the first time, wondered why they sounded so familiar, and realized that that was what those people next door used to play every Saturday afternoon.
