  • Is the Quran only for Muslims?
     OP - August 18, 2014, 02:01 AM

If God is the Lord of the worlds (1.2) and the Prophet is described as the messenger for the worlds (21.107) and the Quran is introduced as a reminder to the worlds, (68.52) then:

      1. What is the relevance of the Quranic message to the world?

      2. How can the world, Muslims and non-Muslims, alike, benefit from the universal message of a universal and compassionate God, during this life and afterlife?

      3. Can non-Muslims practice divinely revealed values without acknowledging their original source and without adhering to the total divine call?

Your interpretations must be wrong because there are 'discrepancies'. .

I thought you viewed allah as a metaphor of the self/ego?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Yes and this issue about the validity of the statement propositions relating to the universality of the message in the Quran, both to Muslim and non-Muslims. . . something wrong about the presumption of the universal message. The way I see today from the Muslims, there is nothing universal about the message of the Quran.

You can pick universal language out of any book on a shelf, doesn't have to be a holy book, ofcourse the Quran and any other holy book contains universal messages and truths hidden amongst the bs contained within..

Star Wars has a universal message that has touched the lives of many people throughout the world and crossed the language barrier. The Koran, unfortunately, can only be understood in one language, so we are told, and is thus restricted. Star Wars is not.

Also, when we are talking about 'universal' we are discussing it from a 21st century persepctive i.e. people on Earth. In the 31st century the word 'universal' may actually mean beings from other planets too. This leads us to question, did the term 'universal' in the Koran include the inhabitants of the America's, Northern Europe, Australia or the extreme ends of the pole? Or is it likely that when the authors of the Koran were referring to 'universal' that they meant Arabs or the Near Eastern region? Let us employ verstehen and understand the world from the 7th century perspective from which the Koranic worldview was derived.
