  • Why I Left Islam
     OP - February 04, 2014, 03:06 PM

    Reasons why I left Islam:
    - Ancient fables in the Qur'an and Hadiths (e.g. talking baby Jesus, talking ants, Noah's Ark, etc...)
    - Muhammad valued this world (despite him saying not to fall for this worldly life several times)
    - Paradise and Hell (they're both hideous)
    - Allah knew many people would fail his test
    - The Qur'an challenge to produce a sura (it's subjective and seems to indicate that having witnesses = truth)
    - Prophecies (humans have power over most of Muhammad's prophecies)
    - Life would be meaningless with Islam (and other faiths) as my religion

`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Perhaps it has more to do with the fact that Islam limits your lifestyle and your life choices a lot more than if you were free from its constraints and limiting doctrines and practices. For example, I hope to continue with my Masters in Sociology after I've finnished my degree this year and perhaps had a couple of years experience in the work force, and hopefully be accepted to doctorate in the subject. However, were I still a Muslim, and dressed in hijab/niqab, the probability for that would be close to nil.  So now "after" Islam, there are a lot of things "I wanna be" that I couldn't if I still accepted Islamic doctrines and theology. For example, I will vote for the first time in my life this year. No more "authority and haakimiyyah belongs to allah" type of stupidity Smiley

S.A.M.: I want to be a humanist  Smiley
Cornflower: I totally agree with you. Out of all the religions, Islam has a lot of limitations. I remember how my dad wanted to set up a small business for selling food but it was required that he had to sell pork. Because of Islam he chose to please this fictitious tyrant (Allah) and refused to set up a business. This wasn't the only case in his life when Islam intervened, there are many numerous cases which involved Islam. Sadly, my dad never thinks about Islam being a man-made religion, he just accepts it as it is. I'm glad you and everyone else in this forum are free from the shackles of religion. Good luck with your future!  Afro

faith/religion/belief  are all individualistic EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES of human beings.. Some like weightlifting and  their kids may not like that and they go for other sport  or some other activity in their spare time.  My point is we should not worry about what fathers are doing or did   or..or what our ancestors religion and rituals were.  So don't worry about your parents. The only thing you can do is "take care of them when they are old and they can not survive without  your help.. that is all what is needed..

Their faith is their faith.,  we need not interfere with their faith as long as it doesn't give any problems to you and your near & dear.

Muslims do not practice the doctrine (underlined) of tolerance. S.A.M. should explain the doctrine of tolerance to practicing Muslims in Muslim countries. He should go to mosques in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran etc. and talk about tolerance. Better yet lobby the governments in those countries to change laws and give non-Muslims equal political and religious rights - he should talk about the rights Muslims enjoy in the West.

Yes i often wonder about that Chapter-18 SAM..

    Quote
    109.001 : Say: O unbelievers!
109.002 : I worship not that which ye worship,
109.003: Nor will ye worship that which I worship.[
109.004: And I shall not worship that which ye worship.
109.005:  Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.006 :You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion.

but that verse   "109.001 : Say: O unbelievers!"  is wrongly worded by Allah or  or by those writers of Quran.. It should have been

109.001 : Say: O unbelievers! of our faith  Islam

We should realize here that those who reject all faiths do not have any faith..  They go by evidence and keep options open  to every one  who would like to explore  the evidences in their respective  faiths..

So Atheism is not really faith., it is a fact finding inquiry on  existing faiths and  other silly  faiths that may come in future.., Allah or some one who wrote that is wrong there...

And on that Chapter-87     Al-Baqarah  verse 18  you are quoting  as your signature
    Quote
"Deaf, dumb, and blind, they will not return (to the path). (al-Baqarah 2:18)"

let me add  other  verses for you to read  from same chapter

.............Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness-- they do not see................

well  allah creates everything So allah created these earthlings and   .Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness-  that could be the reason why they are  rejecting this allah  thing.,   the creator of the universe,  So blame allah for that SAM.
