  • Why did you leave Islam
     OP - April 16, 2014, 09:15 AM

    Hello All,

I just wanted to share my reason for leaving Islam, and wondered what caused other people to leave.

the following two lines of quran killed my faith.

31:34 Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

    and
    and 18:86
until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness."

Muslims argue that this does not mean that he literally saw the sun setting in the water, but the sun set behind the water.  I dont buy that argument.  The the (As if) in brackets in the quote above is not in the arabic, but has been added by the translators hence the brackets.

after i came across the above two lines, my faith was done, i cant belive a god would make such fundamental mistakes.

A perfectly just God who sentences his imperfect creation to infinite punishment for finite sins is impossible
