My 2c is that if there is anything to this arrest, it'll most likely be that Adams was told the details of the killing at some point after it happened. This seems likely since he was head of Sinn Féin, but not directly invoved with militant actions AFAIK. The militant brigades would most likely have been operating independently of Sinn Féin when it came to extrajudicial killings.
IOW, since being told he'd be technically guilty of "obstructing justice" by withholding evidence, but not actually guilty of murder.
