Why is it so bad? Anyone have any specifics or, at least, general parameters?

    Boring and predictable storyline.

The story is roughly the same as before but with different plot mechanics to accomplish it aka rehash. The emotional connection between characters is almost non-existent be it an actor(s) or writing issue. The emotional connections that are present rely upon the first movie which creates a situation in which you must watch the first. Most of the dialogue used to establish the bonds between characters is just horrible. The timeline is fast paced but becomes out of sync due to another plot mechanic that has a forced timeline.

The only positive from the movie is the CGI is far better. That is about it.

Now You See Me 2 is shit.

The in-world universe created is self-contradictory and stretches credibility. The stupid chip-in-card scene is condescending.

The only movie I've walked out of half-way through. If I'd paid to watch it I'd be angry.  finmad

Well that's terribly disappointing! I had planned on going to see it... might wait for it to come on TV now!

Not another crappy sequel! Mind you, what did you think of the original film?

I hadn't seen the first movie.

Ghostbusters was MUCH better than I expected. Awful marketing but everything about the movie seemed to work.

Now this one I do want to see.  Not because of all the stupid arguments over recasting with women, but because I loved Ghostbusters as a child.

Ok, Movies I've watched recently, along with ratings:

    The Conjuring 2 - Meh

Alice Through the Looking Glass - Double Meh

Central Intelligence - Semi enjoyable way to pass the time, plus The Rock, who I will always enjoy watching doing comedy.

The Brothers Grimsby - Cringe, so much cringe, but way better than the dictator which I turned off after 10 mins.

    Bad neighbours 2 - Ok-ish, usual affair.

    Jungle Book - really enjoyed.

The Huntsman Winter's war - Shite.

Gods of Egypt - I enjoyed it personally.

Ride Along 2 - exactly the same as Ride Along 1.

I mostly watch TV shows though.

In fact we need a TV show thread, I'm gonna do that now.

Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple

Saw this last night. Really, really good documentary about Jim Jones's cult. The way he devolved from a benign leader with a vision of a more just society, to a crazy megalomaniac killing over 900 people is so fucking terrifying—and really well-portrayed in the documentary.

Why would most of us relate to that?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Watched La La Land. I had gotten the impression that it was some amazing movie given how everyone talked about it. Meh, it was OK. Emma Stone is watchable, Ryan Gosling I actually like. Not because of his good looks, but because the feeling you get when you see him portray his roles. But the movie as a whole, nothing special.

Also binge watched Olympus has Fallen and London has Fallen. I almost forgot how disgustingly patriotic and nationalistic American action movies can get. I mean, the scene when he beats the shit out of a terrorist and has some weird monologue "we are not a flag bla bla bla" Cheesy Oh dear, skipped right through it. Thank heavens for the 30 second skip you so conveniently can use on Netflix.

If I see one more "facebook-friend" announcing they're watching Fifty Shades Darker, I'm gonna unfriend all of them.

If I'm gonna recommend any movie right now, it has to be "Look who's back". I came across it by chance when going through Netflix and I can't understand why this movie is far less know than the shit I mentioned in my previous paragraph.
