So my mother was wanting to me to do a few chores for her, I did and then she brought up the fact I said no when she asked me to go somewhere with her sister. She said, and I quote, "You cannot say no to your mothers orders. You must respect your mother and everything she orders you to do. Read about Islam and read about respecting your parents."

It bothered me that she said it was an 'order'. That I couldn't say no to whatever she asked.

What a great way of feeling trapped.

Islam is submission. Everything is about someone obeying someone's orders until you reach the top guy, who of course is allah. And only priviliged men have access to allah directly through the monopoly of interpretation and learning. It's an extremely hierarchal system, where women in particular are losers on several fronts. We're bottom feeders

I'm a mum and I don't give the orders, I get them from my teenager! And she nags me...

I must be a grade A bottom feeder.. but I don't have atheletes foot thank goodness
