  • Newbie around here.
     OP - August 15, 2023, 10:00 PM

Hey guys, I'm an ex-muslim, brought up Tablighi Jamaat.
Ran away nearly a decade ago but still finding it hard to leave the religious dogma behind.

Just looking for other ex-muslims because I can't be the only one! I know we all know the drill but we may be a bit too good at hiding!
I'm from the UK, East Midlands, looking to join a group of people with similar experience.

    Thanks

You might be the only one on this forum!

Where did you hear about this site anyway?

I really hope not! I get the secrecy, I myself had to move to an area where no one knew me and change my name but I was hoping eventually to meet others like myself!

I was searching on Google and found some videos on YouTube about the CEMB and went from there.

that sounds like a lot of hassle - hope it's worth it!

this forum died about 7yrs ago when everyone moved onto anti social media sites. I guess there's no similar groups on there if google search is still directing people here?

but there will be plenty of like-minded types in your area already - it's just that nobody will want to make it obvious.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information.

It took me a long time to get out, it is still very dangerous to leave Islam, and the sect my mother belongs to is very strict (Tablighi Jamaat), my mother strongly believed in the holiness of honour killing so it was very necessary to go into hiding.

It seems I stayed in hiding too long and missed everyone, but my caution was well founded!

Do you know of where online I might be able to look?  I've got social media and have looked for groups but not found any, it makes sense their private but it does mean I can't find any!
Its a bit of a rock and a hard place really - its not easy to find a secret society!

god knows lol but shaykh google says try:

    https://twitter.com/CEMB_forum
    https://www.reddit.com/r/exmuslim/
    https://disboard.org/servers/tag/exmuslim
    https://t.me/former_muslims

I'd say you might be disappointed in the quality of this secret society... I know I am!

the alternative is to post some stuff here or make your own local group to attract the right kind of people - doesn't have to be only exmuslims but entirely up to you.

PS you'd think after 30yrs that honour violence might have died out but the british asian community keeps going backwards not forwards!
