    Nope, not in bad taste at all.  She wrote a song as 1 - a way to help her exorcise her pain and 2 - to pay tribute to her mother, she isn't the only musician to use personal pain as a muse, or to write a song about a deceased loved one.

    I didn't find that to be in bad taste whatsoever.

    The part about her wishing her daughter a happy 18th one month in advance...was quite touching.

    After listening to it I would struggle to call her a musician. Not exactly "Tears in Heaven". There is something to be said for the British stiff upper lip.

    Unless you are a snobby musical elitist, you would know that she is a musician even if she isn't doing the music the way you enjoy it:
