I'm not sure if I'm going to regret this, but how would you know? I would guess that you are a sola scriptura Christian, so you are projecting your own following of Christianity on to how you would follow Islam. But they're not the same, it's a completely different paradigm. It's like Muslims saying that if they were ever to be Christian they would for sure be Orthodox or Roman Catholic, as those churches use Tradition alongside the Bible. But in reality - they don't know, for they aren't Christians. [Okay, okay, converts who were already Christians excepted].

People are free to believe what they wish about hell...

..but i get a little upset when my mum tells me of how she was terrified by the catholic nuns scaring the young innocent minds of childeren with tales of the evil devil and hell fire. My mum went through some really bad times because of that.

im not saying these things are the only thing that led to my mums problems, but they helped her in no way and added to it.

When she had my brother, she suffered from postnatal deprssion, which back then was un diagnosed. Hence people thought all kinds of stupid things, such as its a demon, or a devil playing tricks...

My mum actually thought the devil was after her. This is something all religious people should think about, the suffering this tyoe of language to childeren can have long reaching effects and cause a great deal of suffering.

sorry a little off topic, but i find telling people who are bad they are going to hell isnt very helpful. It might stop people from doing a certain action through fear, but is that really the best way forward for humanity?

Its kind of like people want more police on the streets to bead down on the bad guys, do we really want that or should we look into the real causes of crime?

Lewdness isn't just defined by heterosexual behaviour.

Lewdness can include simply wearing shorts, or not wearing your hijab, or lesbianism, basically anything that is the opposite of a proper muslim woman.

Still looks like they're extrapolating like crazy. I mean take goatse. When old Khomeini (yes I know he wasn't Sunni but shaddup anyway) came out with his famous "Thou shalt pork goats n donkeys" ruling you can bet your boots he didn't get that straight from the Quran or ahadith. He was extrapolating and interpreting like mad. Seems like most of this stuff is like that. You'll have one boring little verse that doesn't really say much and some clowns will try to erect a whole tottering colossus on this dicky little foundation.

Technically lesbianism would be adultery as it is sex outside marriage. There is no same sex marriage laws in Islam.

Of course being so male orientated most revelations were directed to men.
