Hey, I'm agnostic but not because I'm a fence sitter.

Its because we cannot really know, so I am just being honest!

The only thing I am totally sure about is that an Abrahmic God cannot exist as he contradicts himself, everything else is plausible.

After all who's to say the universe itself isnt God, and exhibits supernatural tendencies?  However this is in no way to undermine free-enquiry, the one thing we do know is that science works, and until every stone is turned and we do know, then we should never stop.

I voted Something Elsest... I consider myself an Existential Atheist with a soft spot for Ignosticism (what is the actual meaning of the word/concept "god") and Pantheism ("god"=universe, period). Some would call me agnostic, some atheist, I've called myself those too at various times. I don't think my ideas of life, the universe and everything could simplistically fit into one word. And on a practical level, I don't believe my ideas are the only "valid" ones. I think you can be into spiritual things without needing to believe that there's a master-overlord creature with human characteristics sitting there making ridiculous rules and judging and torturing everyone like a drunk parent. Mostly I try to spend more time learning as much as I can and less time worrying about labels. Smiley

    Quote
"If a man has failed to find any good reason for believing that there is a God, it is perfectly natural and rational that he should not believe that there is a God; and if so, he is an atheist... if he goes farther, and, after an investigation into the nature and reach of human knowledge, ending in the conclusion that the existence of God is incapable of proof, cease to believe in it on the ground that he cannot know it to be true, he is an agnostic and also an atheist - an agnostic-atheist - an atheist because an agnostic... while, then, it is erroneous to identify agnosticism and atheism, it is equally erroneous so to separate them as if the one were exclusive of the other..."

I chose atheist, because I'm not sure where else I would fit.  I think that perhaps maybe possibly it is possible that there is some supernatural force out there, but it could be aliens from another planet too.  I don't see any evidence of any gods, nothing to support worshipping and sacrificing for the sake of one, and ultimately I think it is really not that important.  Not if you think about it.  It would be nice if there was a mystical element to the universe, and perhaps there is in a way I don't know about yet, but for the most part, one thing I've learned is that mysticism is largely bullshit with pretty words.

I like that. Yes, what if Aliens have created us? And this whole universe is a big Laboratory? LOL

Also I agree, Mysticism, Religions and especially the Wholly Abrahamic God is nothing but a BS...

I do not dwell on matters of the  supernatural and the fourth dimension.

Instead, I am sitting and waiting and hoping and dreaming of the day I can go and live on another planet. My own planet, inhabitable of course, with a nice ground that can grow anything and large cottage.

And no other humans-I am racist against humans because they piss me off.

    Anyway, atheist, for now.

+1. I'm an atheist when it comes to all deities from all religions past and present. The deist conception of god just seems like some initial cause that is indifferent and who must be extremely bored! Pantheism is just atheism sexed up. In that you believe that the universe is god. This ultimately denies god his transcendent attribute and renders him unworthy of worship.

I find the question of god completely irrelevant, I consider myself an atheist but it is of no importance to me.

Pretty much what Frollo said. Technically I am agnostic because I do not have a definite, dogmatic belief that some sort of deity (whatever that means) cannot possibly exist. In practical terms I'm atheist, because I see no reason to believe that any deities actually exist and without any evidence of them there is no way of living according to their whims.

That is what I said.  Tongue

ETA: Oh and I voted "atheist" because really that is the closest in practice but I don't see the distinction as a big deal.

I was heard Hamza Yusuf say in a talk that he had a soft spot for atheists because they take god far more seriously than most religious people. He said it bothers them and that they write books about it.
