  • Haman in the Qur'an. Where did Muhammad get it from?
     OP - September 10, 2009, 01:10 AM

According to the Qur'an, Haman was some sort of chief builder who worked for the Pharoah. Many Muslims today say that some archaeologists found old hyrogliphs which show Hamans name and occupation. The question is, where did Muhammad discover this? Was there any ancient scrolls or manuscripts in Muhammad's day which said that Haman was with the pharoah? Discuss!

A German guy has examined this topic extensively, to the point of studying what egyptologists say in their books and dictionaries. It's in German, sorry about that.

The only references I could find was a story from good ol' Dr. Maurice Bucaille...so that already makes me do this:  Roll Eyes

(Dr. Maurice Bucaille was the family physician to King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. He wrote a book about the great and wonderful scientific miracles of the quran (Like 90% of the ones you will hear muslims quote were invented by him). He then published the book, and made a truck full of money off gullible people...while oddly enough, considering his conclusions, never converting to Islam. Now he hangs out, lighting cigars with $100bills and laughing.

So since the only reference to any actual research I can find anywhere, comes from Bucaille, talking about research he did with "one of the most prominent French Egyptologists".........who's name is apparently Dr. OneofthemostprominentFrenchEgyptologists... I guess you can take it that for what its worth

The foundation of superstition is ignorance, the
superstructure is faith and the dome is a vain hope. Superstition
is the child of ignorance and the mother of misery.
