  • Video by the English Defence League
     OP - November 07, 2009, 04:41 PM

Did the old chap in this video really say some parts of the UK are already governed by Shar'ah Law? WTF is he on about?

I also don't understand why the info section says they have "no problem with ordinary Catholics."Huh? The EDL doth protest too much, methinks Wink

"Short video showing why the English Defence League (EDL) was formed.

The EDL opposes radical islam only, and has no problem with ordinary muslims at all. If the Spanish Inquisition were to start today, the EDL would oppose it, yet have no problem with ordinary Catholics.

    No surrender."

Well, I like the kitty. What's up with the music? Sounds like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Not very "English" in any case.

    fuck you

He is Lord Pearson of Rannoch, former old Etonian who is now UKIP's leader in the House of Lords.I think he was referring to the fact that some Muslim communities are deciding matters in unoffical Sharia Courts rather than going to the police. That dosen't mean to say the entire community is governed by Sharia Law.

A poor example.A better one would be to say the EDL has no problem with ordinary Catholics but only opposes Catholic terrorists such as the IRA.

They are terrorists but hardly 'Catholic' terrorists....  Catholism hardly features in their agendas...  The IRA is mainly composed of members of Irish Catholic background.  Same with the PKK.  They are not Islamic terrorists.  They have no religious agenda.

I hope Muslims in the UK wake up and listen because there have been backlashes in the past - simply sitting the corner going 'lalalala it is all your fault, you don't understand Islam lalalala religion of peace it is lalalalala" won't help when the peasants come with the pitch forks.

i totally agree wth you dude. There are serious debates about the flaws of sharia going on in Islamic circles too.

I thnk its a time for ex-Muslims like us to engage with Muslims and demand a change has to come.

We come from communities that have been both victims of sharia practice and who are not about to jump onsome proto-nationalist bandwagon to gain support for the secular cause.

The EDL et al have been discussed in another tread and they still refuse to excude BNP and C18.

So let them rot and lets start afresh and build a broad educated alliance against sharia. Lets continue spreadng the word of he campaigns that are still going from the likes of Mariyam Namaazi.

They are the real freedom fighters and they are in the struggle for justice.

The challenge is to reconcile Islam with secularism so that a consistent theological argument can be made which stands up to scrutiny - that is where the challenge is. Unless you can make a strong theological argument it will just appear to Muslims as simply a group trying to shed a part of Islam for convenience. That might mean, for example, that only Sharia as instituted by a state can be implemented by Muhammad and thus only those regulating private behaviour as relevant until the 'second coming' or in the case of Shiah, the return of the Madhi.

I agree Omar - but how can this be done? You know as well as I do how Muslims freak out at the very mention of Ex-Muslims. We have a double problem. The first to reassure them we are not part of some evil Satanic plot to destroy them. And secondly to get them to actually listen to what we have to say!

Will never happen, I mean, they will be as you say - you are Satan whispering in their ear. It has to come from within the Muslim community, and an ex Muslim is as far away as you can get without being a homosexual, Jewish, pork bearing transvestite.

    Ha Ha.
