  • If not one knows.......
     OP - January 10, 2015, 11:00 PM

    Hi All,

For many years I've wonder this question but never had anyone to ask until I found this forum Smiley

I had a Muslim brother-in-law for about 8 years although we kept in contact for a number of years after.  Anyway, he wasn't a practicing Muslims and he would at times do dubious things, nothing serious tho.   He would justify this with his religious beliefs by telling us something along the line of, 'as long as no one knows, then it's fine with Allah'.

Is this a commonly held belief or was this just him?

It would be great to finally solve this mystery Smiley

A sin is worse if committed in public, but a sin in private is still a sin.

    Edit: typo fix.

No what he misinterpreted was the notion that you should keep your sins private, i.e. what you've done wrong is between you and Allah.

This still means that a sin is a sin.

My mind runs, I can never catch it even if I get a head start.

Okay I always didn't quite believe that one Smiley

Thanks for the replies.  So its like most religious beliefs people twist it to suit them Wink

I know Russel's Teapot Musivore, just didn't see it in the name until after it had got set as ahh-tea-apostist, I thought "They like tea and are an apostate/apostate supporter." Speaking of which, teapot, make us a cuppa!
