Sir Elton John says Jesus was super-intelligent gay man

Sir Elton John has claimed Jesus was a "super-intelligent gay man" in an interview with a US magazine.

The singer also told Parade Jesus was "compassionate", forgiving and "understood human problems".

A spokesman for the Church of England said: "Sir Elton's reflection that Jesus calls us all to love and forgive is one shared by all Christians."

"But insights into aspects of the historic person of Jesus are perhaps best left to the academics," he added.

Sir Elton said in the interview: "On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving.

"I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead," he added.

In the interview, the singer also said he did not like being a celebrity any more because "fame attracts lunatics".

"Princess Diana, Gianni Versace, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, all dead. Two of them shot outside their houses. None of this would have happened if they hadn't been famous. I never had a bodyguard, ever, until Gianni died," he said.

I wonder if Gerry Adams will address this in the documentary he's presenting about Jesus on Channel 4.   Smiley

OK, so I'm thinking, isn't it kind of funny that he assumes that because Jesus was sensitive, forgiving and compassionate, that he was gay, as if one follows the other - talk about projection.

    lol great point

homosexuality is frowned on in Judaism is it not? And Jesus was a Jew. I don't see how he would be a homosexual or pro-homo

Just coz his religion was anti-gay doesn't mean gays didn't exist in the same proportion they are now. They were obviously just forced to hide, pretend or whatever.

That's possibly his justification for being a gay Christian against the xtian fundies although I really haven't seen any explicit or strong evidence for Jesus being gay in the gospels and it's quite a speculative stance to have on Jesus' sexuality. This is Elton's way of defending homosexuality on a theological basis, not to say that Jesus definitely wasn't gay but the bias there is quite clear.

"The ideal tyranny is that which is ignorantly self-administered by its victims. The most perfect slaves are, therefore, those which blissfully and unawaredly enslave themselves."

Yes no doubt about that. I think Christianity is different from Islam in the sense that you have the Christ of Faith and Jesus. They don't always coincide. That's why I was scratching my head and continue to do so (along with other groups of Christians) when a Church allows for gay marriage. Not sure how the reform is allowed but glad that it happens.

Notice jesus always looks like and acts like the person who is telling you what jesus was all about?

A little about this nice Jesus fellow.
I cant help myself...a little more Marc Twain:

    Quote
The two Testaments are interesting, each in its own way. The Old one gives us a picture of these people's Deity as he was before he got religion, the other one gives us a picture of him as he appeared afterward. The Old Testament is interested mainly in blood and sensuality. The New one in Salvation. Salvation by fire.

In time, the Deity perceived that death was a mistake; a mistake, in that it was insufficient; insufficient, for the reason that while it was an admirable agent for the inflicting of misery upon the survivor, it allowed the dead person himself to escape from all further persecution in the blessed refuge of the grave. This was not satisfactory. A way must be conceived to pursue the dead beyond the tomb.

The Deity pondered this matter during four thousand years unsuccessfully, but as soon as he came down to earth and became a Christian his mind cleared and he knew what to do. He invented hell, and proclaimed it.

Now here is a curious thing. It is believed by everybody that while he was in heaven he was stern, hard, resentful, jealous, and cruel; but that when he came down to earth and assumed the name Jesus Christ, he became the opposite of what he was before: that is to say, he became sweet, and gentle, merciful, forgiving, and all harshness disappeared from his nature and a deep and yearning love for his poor human children took its place. Whereas it was as Jesus Christ that he devised hell and proclaimed it!

Which is to say, that as the meek and gentle Savior he was a thousand billion times crueler than ever he was in the Old Testament -- oh, incomparably more atrocious than ever he was when he was at the very worst in those old days!

The foundation of superstition is ignorance, the
superstructure is faith and the dome is a vain hope. Superstition
is the child of ignorance and the mother of misery.
    -Robert G. Ingersoll (1898)
