The funny thing is, at the time of the actual crusades, they were often seen by Muslims as just your bog standard border disputes. The whole idea of "Crusading" was far more important to Christian Europeans, who were far more passionate about it than Muslims.

this was a short bit on London tonight, basically they were demoing against soldiers who had just returned from Afghanistan. THe last time this happened it created the EDL

See arthur, if your EDL crew had stuck to that alone you might have some credibility. Direct action against far-right Islamist extremists in the form of counter-protest is not a bad idea. Its when the EDL displayed its bigotry and thuggery by going to towns with no extremists to just create tension with innocent Muslim citizens that you fucked up.

I agree that we got off to a bad start, but we have more control now, we've kicked out most of the racist and so most demos are rowdy rather than violent.

We cancelled the Walsall protest because we discovered that the people who were building the Mosque are totally anti jihad and aren't regarded as muslims by other muslims.

We cancelled Tower Hamlets because no speeches no protest needed, if we were just out for a confrontation, then it would've gone ahead.

UAF however have decided to go ahead with their march against the EDL.
When Whitechapel anarchists asked why the UAF were supporting the speakers at the Troxy, UAF said, what speeches, clearly the UAF are well informed, duh!

So the anarchist nearly ended up supporting us, certainly they have lost the support of the anarchists and even the far left via the SWP are becoming fed up with them. They oppose us of course but in a more reasoned way.

Actually, WAG were planning a demo against UK-IC and the EDL. They didn't "nearly end up supporting" you at all.

I will continue to oppose you coming to my area to stir shit, in the same way I oppose the religio-fundies. That doesn't mean I support the United East End (or whatever the SWP are calling themselves this week), either.
