  • Hi I am an ex-muslim
     OP - December 28, 2010, 12:04 PM

I was a Musilm for nine months, and I found out about this website from an ex-muslim friend. I have started a group for ex-muslims on facebook. Send me a message if you have a facebook, and you are interested in joining. I will give you the info that way. You have to be friends with me on there first, and then I can invite you.

Hey.  Are you by any chance a fan of Floetry (Floacist + Songstress)?

Hi floetress-j.z (love your username)! Welcome to the forum. Is your friend a member of this forum?

Where are you from? What made you decide to convert to Islam, and likewise to leave it?

Hey there. Not many people who are ex muslims will join a group on facebook.. being anonymous is very important for many of us, especially those like me who are in a muslim country.

Tell us about yourself, how and why you joined islam, and what made you leave?

Welcome Floetress, I'm glad you decided to join as I suggested. Afro

So what made you become a Muslim and what made you leave after 9 months.

    What are your beliefs now?

So you want people to give you their private info first, before you tell us anything about yourself?

After being a non practising muslim since 1988..i finally made the decision to quit referring to myself as a muslim 10 years..Looking back I still find it hard to believe that I actually believed in the stupid verses of the koran not to mention the nonsense of the quran...I owed my freedom from the cult of islam to the power of the internet where I was able to do my research and to listen to great intellectuals like sam harris, richard dawkins, christopher hitchens. It is refreshing to know that I'm not alone and the army is growing...The biggest step in my apostasy was sitting down and actually eating pork and enjoying it without worrying about what a middle eastern arab warrior and pedophile thinks or fear of the almighty imaginary allah!

It still amazes me that 1 billion people actually believe the nonsense of the quran and absurdities of the hadith!

Why do I have the urge to  suggest a rum & coke before bed & rice with chorizo (pork sausage) for breakfast ?

Oh yeah- because it's GREAT !

floetress-j.z, I'm sure you're genuine, but I'm also sure you'll understand why some people especially ex Muslims would be reluctant to furnish their personal details to someone they have not bonded with or had demonstrated that they are genuine too, some cautious people might even say this comes across as a crude attempt at a fishing trip.

Not me, I'd just suggest the possibility in order for you to see how others might see things. As I said, I'm sure you are genuine.

I know the OP personally and can vouch for the fact that she's legit. We've shared many a laugh over the hate mail her so-called Muslim "friends" have been deluging her with for leaving Islam. I'm sure her intentions with the FB group are sound, probably just wasn't aware that CEMB is mostly populated by people who can't be as open regarding apostasy.
