  • You cannot do it if Muhammad didn't do it
     OP - January 31, 2011, 11:06 AM

MThe "beat your wife" discussion has progressed to the point where the video owner is saying that Muhammad and his followers didn't ever hit their wives, and we should all live by his example.

Obviously the idea that Muhammad's actions outweigh Allah's words is illogical....unless of course Islam is a Muhammadam cult :-)  At this moment I don't care to go into finding hadiths showing whether anybody hit their wives or not, I'd like to stick to the Quran.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head at the moment so I thought I'd post here.  Is there anything you guys can think of that the Quran says you can do which Muhammad would not have done.  i.e. if we were to follow this logic then it means that people should never stop worshipping idols because Muhammad never started etc.

I can imagine this line of illogic coming up again in the future, so it would be useful to have some alternative ammo such as this :-)

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

It would go perfectly here, so here it is - sock it to him
Aisha describes,“He struck me on the chest which caused me pain.” (Sahih Muslim, Book 4:2127)

I know of that hadith but wasn't going to use it at this point.  First I wanted to point out how illogical his argument is.  I'm specifically looking for something which is permitted that Mo could not have done.
