  • Do you think Muslim countries can move beyond Allah?
     OP - March 16, 2011, 10:17 PM

I was wondering whether we as ex-Muslims can have any real effect on Muslims who deeply believe that Allah will give them a reward after suffering in this life. How can we even penetrate this membrane of falsehood when Muslims themselves cannot seem to look at the truth. Obliviously individual Muslims can achieve a post Allah reality, not because there families helped them, but rather being exposed to other sources of information. Also What happens when say an Islamic country becomes wealthy (Singapore) does it make tackling the Allah question easier? Look at all the Islamic fundies we have here in England, it's clear that scientific information will not make leaving Islam easier.

Do you think we can honestly achieve a post theocratic Islamic society, one which is pluralist and puts humans first?

Through Logic, truth can be ascertained.

I do think we can have a big impact - particularly as our numbers grow and our views and position are circulated among our families, friends, communities etc... Good ideas are like viruses and spread and catch.

Yeah i just checked the statistics for religion in singapore. There are more non-relgious poeple than muslims in the city state.

    Quote
The Malaysian constitution guarantees freedom of religion and makes Islam the official religion. According to the Population and Housing Census 2000 figures, approximately 60.4% of the population practiced Islam of which only the Sunni branch is allowed;[154] 19.2% Buddhism; 9.1% Christianity; 6.3% Hinduism; and 2.6% practice Confucianism, Taoism and other traditional Chinese religions.

If thats the case then they are light years ahead of us over in Africa/Middle east.
