    @Teapot

Are you saying the exotic pull of the East ensorcells not just the politically innocent Sally, but the bigwigs of the press too? That's a grave charge brother. Dangerous words. Why doesn't the equally exotic darky who deserts Islam for saner shores grip the TV execs no less? Let them put Two-Pizzas-Teapot on the evening telly to hold forth on the sins of Allah's gang. That would make gripping viewing and half the right-wing blogs will cover it. Picture the scene: A glorious image of our man with the gap toothed smile striking a defiant pose with clenched fist in the air featured on no less a website than JihadWatch. Classic. So why the paucity of media interest? Answer: Because Teapot is too much of a pussy to smile for the cameras where his former Jihadist mates might catch him.

    LOL @ Two-Pizzas-Teapot

Fair point, my sugarplum.  The fact that apostates are not too willing to go on camera is an added factor.  Although, there should still be TV and newspaper reports about the ostracism/shunning/threats that apostates face, even if there is no photo/video of the apostate; perhaps a video silhouette.   You see, with every cult it is hard to find ex-cult members willing to go on camera to spill the beans.  Partly because it will cause untold damage to their lives and family ties, and partly because they don't want to be seen to be attention-seeking by attacking their old cult.
I do think it is important for apostates to criticise Islam, but I'm a bit wary of our work being used by right-wing bigots, and others who don't give a flying fuck about intellectual honesty.

Personally, my story is not terribly interesting.  I have not faced threats at all, because I have kept my apostasy very quiet except to my family, who have kept it secret too, to avoid embarrassment.  I have only been shunned by my family to this day (which is pretty bad, but there is not much more to add).
Others on this forum like serrated_colon have faced many difficulties like threats from Muslim gangs etc.  But serrated_colon is unlikely to go on camera because he still depends on his parents for financial support.

Just observe his petrified noises above to Claire as though a cat on whose tail someone had stepped. Pathetic.

Hey.. I was just trying to be a smart-ass and a sceptic, by spotting an authentication loophole. Tongue

Thing is telly is a visual medium. What man wants to watch a dark screen made even darker by the darky between whose layers of darkness his chipped teeth shine as white as pearls? Gonna blind a man. A man wants to look at something pretty. Television is sheer escapism. Give him bright colours and sounds and jiggly things. You know the story. So long as we remain a shadowy group is there any doubt that Allah's tribe will inherit the earth?

ateapotist is right. This is how Islam's coercive darkness triumphs over truth.

British Muslim organisations have the media doing cartwheels to unquestioningly squirt out their dawah-ganda, whilst dissenters and apostates face social ostracism and threats and slander (and violence) both from Muslims and non Muslims who peddle the happy-clappy dawah-ganda unquestioningly.

The truth is that ex Muslims pose a dilemma not just for Muslims, to whom they are the ultimate proof of Islam's nonsense, but for non Muslims in the media and elsewhere who would rather stick their head in the sand and lap up the 'Religion Of Peace White People Converting By The Ferry Load Every Day' baloney than face up to some home truths and question the absurd truth claims that Islam makes for itself. Although to be fair, alot of it is to do with fear - they are shit scared of upsetting Muslims, because well, its a religion of peace, redeemer of the morally deranged white women, etc etc, isn't it? And if you don't agree.....

Hello to everyone who commented on my post.

Firstly....I am who I say I am, I am not a journalist, I am a journalism student, I have no ulterior motives, nor do I work for anyone, or have any alliances.
I am also very unfamiliar with forums and how they work, so please bare with me technologically.
I am embarrassed by the video that's been posted, that is indeed me and my friend and I am naively surprised it's so readily accessible.
Search 'Winchester Journalism' in YouTube and you will find videos of 'WINOL' the news bulletin that my degree course produces weekly, Some of which I present, hopefully that is proof enough of my identity.

Let me also explain my interest. I am half dutch as my name suggests, and last year I met a dutch politician (originally Iranian) by the name of Eshan Jami, a founder of The Committee for Ex-Msulims  google him. Talking to him fascinated me.

I have no religious persuasion and am merely interested in the subject of Islam and the consequences of renouncing it.

In regard to the interview, it would be preferable to film my subject, if identification is an issue that could be resolved, however I would want to record the interview with a dictaphone at least, in order to avoid inaccuracies or misquotation.
My interview will be submitted to the University and will not be broadcast.

Please e-mail me with any further concerns and please get in touch if you would be willing to take part in an interview.
    Thank you.
    Claire-Nadine

Well... my story is boring but there are some people here with some fantastic stories. As teapot sahib said though, they are probably the least likely to go on record about their apostasy. But good luck, Claire-Nadine.

grin12 Don't be embarrassed. That video rocks and everyone is allowed to have fun.

Since that video is on a YouTube account that is in your name any search engine will find it in no time. On the web, anything is publicly accessible  by default, to anyone anywhere in the world. It's worth keeping this in mind. You can keep things private but you have to take deliberate measures to make sure they are private.

Yup, someone posted some of that too. It would also be easy for anyone who was nervous to check with the University itself.

I am a third year Journalism student at The University of Winchester.
I want I am interested in doing an interview with an ex-muslim who has a story to tell.

Her spelling/grammar/spell proofing is not too good for a 3rd year journalism student.
