Welcome Sofia. I was also a deist when I left Islam, Thomas Paine's work on deism was particularly influential and "The Age of Reason" is still one of my favourite books.

You did not do your homework. There are only 3 true religions (Al-Islam, Christers and Yahoodis). Deism, like polytheism is a human invention, that was not even worth mentioning in Al-Kitab. Kufr is from Iblis, so it is from a more powerful source than so called deism. There are only 2 parties: party of Allah and us (Al-kafiroon). Anyone who was a Muslim and then changed their religion is a kafir, as they know that Islam is true but reject it out of pure evil as far as Al-mu'minoon are concerned. That's absolutely right brother. In fact I've heard that Lord Herbert of Cherbury who founded deism was one of the djinns of Iblis, and when dajjal comes out in the end times he will preach deism or atheism. Its possible that he is already out in the form of richard dawkins.

Also, yajooj majooj are followers of deism as well. And on the day of qayamat, trees and leaves will say 'o muslim, there's a deist behind me, kill him.'

Anyway, I became a deist BEFORE I read its concept. It was just this moment when you read about a point of view and feel like yeah this is me. Also, if Muslims regard me as a kaffir, so be it. Like I give a fuck.
But to me. Kaffir means disbeliever. I believe in God. Therefore I'm not a desbeliever or kaffir. What I AM a kaffir about is religion. So the word kaffir depends on what we're talking about. No one is kaffir about everything or a believer concerning everything.

But hey... that probably makes me an ex-muslim all the same hmmm... maybe Osmanthus should change me from member to ex-muslim but I'm not final about my apostacy. I'm ready to re-embrace Islam if my realizations and conclusions are proven to be wrong, where the odds of that happening are close to zero.
