Dude gives some examples of immoral justice (hanging for being raped, stoning for adultery, ..)
Then talks about an earlier debate between Sarkozy and Ramadan where Ramadan bullshitted his way out of having to condemn stoning.
Final message: Ramadan, get your shit together and simply say "I condemn stoning" when asked instead of pulling another Tariq Ramadan.

Lovely. Ramadan is the king of straw man arguments and diverting from the question cleverly.

Odd, but I disagreed with him.  Here is what I thought

1: If Tariq says western morality is superior then he WILL lose the ear of those he talks to.  It's a bit like starting a race equality meeting with "Morning niggers."
2: Tariq is right in that his own personal opinion is irrelevant. If he gives his personal opinion his audience will say "What is your opinion compared to Allah's?"
3: If however he keeps the sympathy of his audience he just MIGHT be able to convince them that ALLAH doesn't want them to stone people.

Besides, what is the obsession with stoning?  I'd rather be stoned than electrocuted, hanged, or given a lethal injection - although I'd prefer a bullet to the head. What matters is

1: These people are being killed
2: They are being killed for insignificant offences

Stop focusing on the execution method!

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

    The Rationalizer,

the execution method in the case of the stoning is quite a valid point, since it is a form of legalized lynching... Stoning does not involve professional henchmen or drug administrators... It involves the entire community (men) coming and throwing stones at a particular person who was sentenced to death for something trivial. This form of punishment traumatizes and leaves psychological damage to the entire community since they participate on such events...

And trust me hanging , lethal injection and electrocution are all faster ways and better ways of dieing (hanging being the best, since your neck is broken in an instant) than forcing you in a hole, leaving only the upper part of your torso out, and getting hit by stones of various sizes, thrown from an angry mob, till you die....

Just look at the sun and the moon, rotating around the earth perfectly! Out of all the never ending space in the universe, the sun and moon ended up close to earth rotating around it perfectly.!!

... and very finally, how Aaronovitch's father was a communist supporter. And just like Aaronovitch, Ramadan should just accept his father was wrong and move on. Game, set and match Aaronovitch!

Hmm that is a good discussion HighOctane., let us put all of them here ., The discussion was about the
'We should not be reluctant to assert the superiority of western values'.

This discussion took place in 2007.,  proposing the motion is David Aaronovitch,  Douglas Murray & Ibn Warraq and against the emotion is William Dalrymple, Charles Glass  and  Tariq Ramadan .
