Now my mind is free, since I left Islam, I feel like I have got myself back. I DO believe in God, but am not keen on religions. I feel a new lease of life since leaving Islam and would advise anyone to NEVER convert, the Muslims and the Dawah experts are mere car salesmen - talking up and glorifying that which is clearly a heap of junk!

They appear to be bloody good at their salesmanship judging from the number of people who have been conned! But got to give it to them, they have have bested the Christians at this conversion game! [Seems to be their lifeblood!]. Are they really any different from dirty politicians?
From experience I have realized  neat solutions to life's problems are very rare and anything/anyone claiming  otherwise is a big fraud. You have got to figure out the solutions yourself,no holy book or any other shit can help you out.At best, they are mere placebos but generally they are a refuge for the escapists!
It's ironical that in a day and age when people are clamoring for more and more personal freedoms you have people who allow their autonomy to get brutally raped by gangs.

Oh! man! you don't need any religion for that!

Probably that's why many people fail to figure out the truth early enough to jump off the bandwagon. The knots can be overwhelming  if there are serious circuit problems in the upper chamber.

wow Sami, welcom!  Your story sounds a lot the same as mine! Especially the 'car salesmen' part. Looking back I feel ashamed too, that I fell for it! But I remember reading a lot of moderate books, listening to 'islamic music' and this stuff was even given to me by my ex-husband who prayed five times a day and was a very practicing muslim. So I just trusted these people and accepted, since it seemed so reasonable and human, and the stress was on good deeds. I guess you can recognize all of it!

Later I found out that these good deeds are in many ways far from what I understood to be good deeds, the best deed being prayer and obedience, and for a women obedience to God means obedience to her husband. I found out that God forbids all the normal things that make us human. And all the muslims which seemed like normal humans to me, the more moderate ones, well like you I found out that they simply don't have a clue about many things!! For example, one lady reduced islam to: isnt it a miracle that a baby is born, so God must exist, and so I believe in Islam. They just skipped all the problematic issues, like slavery. I am sure that when people really have the guts to explore these issues, many many more would leave islam.
