    Come here for food porn:

Last night's dinner. It was supposed to be a chicken paella, but i had to improvise due to availability/lack of ingredients.

Made with rice, chopped chicken and broth, onions, peas, olives and various spices. 8/10 for taste.

Also thanks to eph for the thread idea, hopefully keeping this thread up will help me stick with this.  Afro

Grilled tandoori chicken, with rice and tomato curry. 6.5/10, chicken was slightly charred from the grill but otherwise delicious, tomato curry was meh.

that's more my thing bro. looks nice  Afro. have you got a proper grill or did you use a grill pan?  grin12

I'm reluctant to eat grilled meat now because i've read that it can lead to stomach cancer. But I still love it.  cool2

My mom wanted to teach me the joys of cooking Indian cuisine so I made a chicken and green bean curry that I had with some pita bread. I didn't remember to get a picture though before we finished it all off, which is a shame because it certainly looked good when finished. I give it a 7.5/10 in taste.

Cool thread idea. Go for it. I should try and do something like this myself. I get slack with my cooking.

    Where are your recipes?

    Where are your recipes?

Which specific one do you want?

I don't have written recipes for the Indian food, as I cook it "by feel" mostly (with some input from the peanut gallery my mom), but I can certainly give you a general guide on how to cook something. I only have an actual recipe for the lasagna and paella, the latter of which I also improvised heavily, lol.

Curries aren't that hard to make once you get the hang of it. The hard part is just having all of the ingredients ready and on hand.

For every curry that I make I specifically need to have chopped onions, ground red pepper, turmeric powder, and garlic & ginger paste (can be found in local indian food store).

The recipe for tomato curry to serve about 4 people is roughly as follows.

    1 chopped onion
8 chopped roma tomato (less for bigger tomato variety)
    4 tbsp canola oil
1/2 tsp each of salt, red pepper, ginger & garlic paste
    1/4 tsp turmeric powder

First cook the onions in oil in a pot until the onions are browned. Then lower the stove heat and add the salt, garlic & ginger paste, red pepper, turmeric powder. These first steps are going to be the same regardless of what type of curry you're making.

Then add the tomatoes, and increase the heat while you mix up the ingredients thoroughly for about 2 min. Then lower the heat again, cover the pot and let it cook on low heat for another 10-15 min until the tomatoes are broken up and become very soft/mushy. Let it cool a bit and its ready to serve with rice or bread or whatever. If you want to add meat like chicken you have to increase the other ingredients, especially the onion.
