I have a Jack Russell bitch called Pepe (I know, should be Pepa, but she doesn't know that, she's just a dog) and when she was but a teenager (in human years but months in dog years) we were walking past a neighbour's house one day during her 'dirty eating' phase. She would eat anything , dead or alive and I was always having to leap on her, pin her to the ground and thrust my fingers to the back of her throat to extract whatever excrescence she'd just taken a fancy to.
Anyway, our neighbour, old Gwyllim , had just had a prostate operation and I was enquiring after his health, not watching the dog and not realising that she was taking an unnatural interest in the rubber tube projecting from his pyjama-leg bottom. Before I could say, 'Don't you dare', she'd seized it and was giving it a good yanking and I quickly realised that the other end was attached to the softest part of his anatomy. Gwyllim was yowling, Pepe was growling and I had to lift her into the air to take the weight off his distressed organ. When I'd managed to prise her jaws open and order was restored, some cotton wool covered in earwax fell to the ground and, swift as white light, she seized it up, forcing me to operate, again. At first I didn't know what it was but when I'd recovered it Gwyllim apologised and explained. Pretty decent of him in the circumstances, I thought. Anyway, I was, all in all, cringingly embarrassed and decided to beat an apologetic retreat myself.
