  • The Mark of the Beast
     OP - October 11, 2012, 09:29 PM

I used to pray so fast that I had the infamous mark of the beast, the black mark u get on ur forehead; think its called zebiba (raisin in arabic) or something.

My innocent mother used to call it "namaz ki nishani" and said it would shine & reflect light on Kiyamat judgement day, and allah would immediately earmark me for jannah. So-bum-Allah.

Quran 48:29: When you see them, you will find them bowing down and falling prostrate and craving for Allah’s Bounty and Good-will. They have the marks of prostration on their faces by which they are distinguished from others.

In fact she was extra chuffed because it as she was my mother, she would also get a free golden pass to heaven.

Little did they know this muslim equivalent of a halo sign is nothing more than build-up of callous and skin discolouration caused by repeated chafing on a cheapskates rough janamaz.

Times have changed now. She now thinks I will be taking her kicking & screaming to hell. Soz Mum

P.S. Picture of UK terror suspect below, also sporting the Mark of the Beast

LoL at the idea that the all knowing infinite mind reading omnipotent creator of all universes and humans would need a physical signpost on the forehead to filter the pious and fast track them like people wearing a special badge in a queue to board an airplane.

So much unintended comedy in Islam.

     Cheesy  Cheesy

I hear you on that one Saif. Whenever my mom meets someone's son or relative that has the "Mark of the Beast"  she comments to us " mashallah the parents are so lucky to have a son who is so 'committed to Allah and the deen' "

That's usually followed up by her looking at me and saying " The only thing I want from you to become is a pious muslim and pray for me when I die" '  mysmilie_977

It's at times like this when I hear Christopher Hitchen's voice in my head saying "“If I could change one thing, it would be that…when someone gets up and says, ‘I’m a person of faith’…they don’t get respect for it! They think that’s a respect producing statement…’I am a person who will believe practically anything on no evidence at all’.”

BTW: Good to see you posting on the forum again  Smiley

Exactly.  Mo found a way to turn this ugly mark on worshippers' foreheads into a positive.  He said Allah will love you for having proof of repeated prostrating for him on earth. So Muslims can walk around with pride showing off their forehead badge.

Personally, I never came close to getting the stupid mark. My forehead is too flat and my prayer mats were too smooth and comfy. bunny

^ heres something from the article  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zebibah

    Quote
In the West there are not a lot of famous people with a zebibah. Possibly the closest was artist Wesley Willis, though his callus did not come from Salat but rather from headbutting audience members and other people as a greeting. (Wikipedia)
