  • Can you spare some time?
     OP - May 01, 2013, 11:14 AM

Take a look at this - http://www.TheQuranCollection.com - it's a website with various translations of the Quran, word by word breakdown of the Arabic at the bottom of each page (from which you can see where else in the Quran the word and its variations are used), and in the middle there are verse relevant links to Tafsirs.

    For the next stage I've created hadith data for 4 collections (Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, Sunan Abu Dawud, Malik's Muwatta).  I need one or more people to help me by volunteering to visually scan through the hadiths for references to Quran verses.  The idea is to put links on each chapter/verse to any hadiths which discuss the revelation circumstances of the verse....e.g. (4:24 - We captured some married women and didn't want to have sex with them but Muhammad said it was okay.) {Paraphrased}

    The data looks like this

    http://pastebin.com/huQ4f8zX

This is an example of a large piece of text which has two quran verse references near the end (this site is good for converting the Roman numerals) but some of the hadiths say things like "and then revealed the last two verses of Surat al Naml"

What I want is a text file like this
    001.0036   9:113      28:56

The format of each line being
1: The ID of the hadith
    2: Tab
    3: Chapter:Verse
    4: Tab
5: Chapter:Verse (if more than one verse referenced)
    6: Tab
7: Chapter:Verse (if more than two verses referenced)
    etc

Or an Excel file with the hadith reference in the first column and Quran chapter:verse references on the same line in the following columns.

I'm not using this account any more, this is a one-off post.  So if you would like to help then please send me an email to thisisthetruthuncut@gmail.com

    Cheers

Abu Dawud + output files attached (txt and excel examples)

I really hope some of you are willing to help me to get this done.  I think it should be much easier for people (especially Muslims) to access tafsirs + hadiths explaining what they are reading and that is the purpose of this project (which can also be rendered off as PDF / ebook etc)

On Sunnah.com, when a Hadith references a Quran ayat, in the Arabic text it uses these brackets:  ‏{ }‏‏ between the Quran verse.

So probably the simplest way to do it is to go to Sunnah.com and go through each chapter of Bukhari and search (CTRL+F) for those bracket symbols.

If there was a way to download the entire website of Sunnah.com and do a search for everytime it hyperlinks to Quran.com then that would be an even quicker way to do it.

Excellent!  Which of the following references is it best to use? I see 3!

The last one is the English language reference that is most commonly used in English, like the USC website uses that one. The second one is the Arabic language reference I think, the first one I don't know.

That site suggestion was excellent, thanks!

I now have 11 files containing hadiths with quran verse references for each.  Some however will have been missed, they say things like "Last 3 verses of Surah Al Naml" so will have to be done manually, but with most of the references in place I think it will be possible to go ahead now and then add a mechanism for manually listing the missing items later.

PS: I Still need some help!

Sahih Muslim: Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house when I was nine years old.

I would link this to Quran 65:4 because that verse talks about sex with girls too young to have started having their periods.  If people could please post links to either sunnah.com or usc.edu hadiths and mention a Quran verse they would be good to be cross referenced to I would appreciate it!
