Just passing on the message...
British Ex-Muslims who were converts won't be the main focus of the research, but looks like their views would be useful - if anyone is interested.
British Muslim Converts: Investigating the Challenges in The Lives of New Muslims
My name is Mona Alyedreessy. I am a second year British PhD student at Kingston University (London) in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Sociology.
I am currently undertaking an important academic and social study on the subject of British Muslim Converts that aims to create an awareness of the challenges they encounter in their lives as Muslims.
If you are an ex- British Muslim Convert and would like to voluntarily participate in this study by taking part in an interview please contact me.
Your contribution will greatly benefit this research by enabling both the Muslim and British societies to gain a wider understanding of the issues faced in order to highlight any deficiencies in the support networks within the British non-Muslim and Muslim Communities for converts.
It will also identify the consequences faced from the challenges experienced in your lives and the lives of those around you.
Also, due to the contemporary political issues surrounding the social and cultural integration of many new Muslims in Britain, this thesis responds to an important social need, as many Muslim community converts are culturally disconnected from British society.
All interviews are strictly confidential and must take place before November 2013. The information given will be completely anonymous and I have been given the approval for this project by the Head of Kingston University's ethics committee.
For more information about the research, to participate or to ask any questions kindly email me at k1170891@kingston.ac.uk or call/message me on Skype (mona.alyedreessy).
Interviews can be conducted over Skype for those who feel more comfortable doing so.
Your participation will be of great value and highly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Kind Regards,
Mona Alyedreessy
