Looking for a book that comprehensively deals with islamic philosophy from a sceptical perspective. I tried making it through Nasr's Philosophy in the land of prophecy but found that he wasn't really concerned with criticism of certain doctrines, per se. Any recs?

P.S.: has to be in ebook and/or audiobook form.

Wait, there's a contemporary 'Islamic philosophy' worth the name?

(And therein is a possible clue as to why a sceptical perspective is unlikely..)

Why can't we have something similar to Russell's A History of Western Philosophy in the islamic world :(.

I've not read Nasr's book, but I did flip through Watt's 'Islamic Philosophy and Theology' years ago. I seem to remember it was a good overview, assuming that one was happy to not to stray from the mediaeval (at the latest). It's still dead-tree only, though.

This is it, if any of you bourgeois folk wouldn't mind purchasing and OCR'ing it in. I may be able to provide incentive if you're on the Utopia, is 1TB ratio sufficient?

This looks like an interesting read. I'll add it to my list. You should be able to find it in an academic library. Check the WorldCat catalog. Thanks, Schizo!

    Cheers mate!

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

Unfortunately such an option isn't available to me. Let me know how your reading of it (assuming you procure a copy) goes.

Smiley

I have the last 96 pages photographed if anyone can OCR the pictures. The bibliography can be found online.

Sorry wrong book. How do I delete my post?
