Speaking of, I remember a while back their was a christian couple who made a lot of noise because social services refused to let them foster/adopt as they believed homosexuality was wrong and would try to install that prejudice into the children.

Well that is a slightly different situation because you are giving children to a home and not taking children away from one.

If I was a social worker I don't think I could let a person with fundamentalist  religious views adopt a child and take them home.

I mean if you know that the person is going to heavily indoctrinate the child it would be highly unethical on my opinion to put a vulnerable child in that person's care.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

If this forum is anything, it is proof people from religious/extremist backgrounds can shift away and be outspoken against their parents beliefs.
Bigots had NO role in my journey from Islam to atheism. It was mostly education and empathy.

the whole idea is stupid. When politicians say stupid stuff about serious issues it takes away from the real things that can be done to deal with it. That's why politicians like Boris often do more damage than actually helping. He's an oaf.

He's a dangerous oaf though, because ideas like that have just enough plausability in the eyes of many to be passed into law.  He wraps it in the same bracket as measures taken against FGM too, which gives me the creeps a bit.  Obviously the law should step in and act where there's a risk of FGM, but bracketing radical ideas along with FGM is a conjuring trick which Orwell would have had a field day with.

My parents raised me to see the IRA hunger strikers as noble heroes, for example.  I wonder what a Boris Johnson-inspired social services would have made of that?

This is still not relevant. Boris could be 1/8th Yemeni and the situation would be no different.

why??   Boris could be a kid from Russian ancestry ...

    He's a dangerous oaf though, ..................

well the problem is NOT HE  but his genes., it must have come from his RUSSIAN RACIST gene pool.  People like that need to be rehabilitated with some sort of psychiatric treatment, And and may be he is a good subject for some sort of psychological experiments which will help him understand the effects his words. Best thing to do is,  to catch them young  and send them to rehabilitation centers to change their behavior and attitude towards others  that are different from them.

however educated and intelligent a person may be, once he/she stops thinking an   Idiot can emerge at any time from such fools.....

You've just made my point for me. This is why I said on the previous page mixing should be encouraged.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

He is dangerous, but there is no chance of this becoming law.
