Who am I? Well, I'm from the UK (makes sense, considering the name of this website), I'm a programmer, and I am an exmuslim.

Wow. I am not a Muslim.

It feels weird saying that... I don't have an exact date for when I knew I wanted to leave but I think it has been a year.

I've eaten my fair share of haram food and consumed... some alcohol. I haven't had much bacon, though... only crappy Morrisons salad bar bacon and bacon whilst camping!

What was your first experience with haram things? And hello

Hi wf000aa! You had never drunk alcohol before you left islam,it is understood that you were a devout muslim. Can u tell me what caused u to make such a radical decision? What were the main reasons? I hv been questioning islam for a long time too that's why im asking this...

Hi wf000aa! Wierd thing is when I was Muslim haraam things seemed a hell of a lot more appealing but now it doesn't seem that special lol! I did try alcohol a few times before though but not for enjoyment, more like a way to harm myself if that makes any sense!

The only haraam foods I've had since becoming an ex-Muslim are sweets containing gelatin lol! I'm yet to try bacon but have heard nothing but praise so hope to try it soon!

Anyway from one newbie to another, Welcome!

The decisions weren't radical, leaving Islam isn't just like flipping a switch. The first time I had alcohol I had a single sip of Jack Daniels. Just one sip. And that was all I had that month.

Of course not. I understand that your reply was probably rhetorical, but I'll answer it anyway.

There are many people that still keep certain "values" (no sex before marriage, no alcohol, etc). However, I am seventeen and everyday I go out with my friends for lunch during school hours. It is so easy to make the transition over to "no Islam" by eating the food that you've grown up being told not to eat. I can't make that transition away from salaah and "general Muslim life" at home with family, but I can live a lifestyle away from Islam outside my "life at home".

I ate bacon for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was the strangest experience ever. I always thought that I could never eat it regardless of my faith but after the first bite I realised...it is delicious!
