  • The invention of the Koran
     OP - April 05, 2016, 08:19 AM

Is there any agreement about anything about the Koran, when it was compiled, what source documents it used, it's purpose, where written, it's language?

    Some proposals :-)

It's language is specially created and invented to be a holy poetic perfect language of God.

It's message is about the end of the world - a final message.

Mecca and medina are both fictional and theological in purpose. - medina is a classic trope - city on a hill.

What conclusions can we come to starting with these premises?

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

Tradition says that it took Mo 23 years to receive it.

Then it seems, that it took 20 years of careful editing to collect and write down this otherwise perfect text (and destroy any other copies).

Once there was an authorized text, it was a capital offense to question it or change it.... meaning that it stayed as it was.
