  • My Video Has Been Removed!
     OP - November 19, 2008, 07:53 AM

I get this message when I try to view "My Story":

"This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

I have a feeling I know why (vid/pics of Islamia School).

I guess I will have to edit them out and re-post when I get a moment.

I've also heard of vids critical to Islam have been removed. Atheists (whom I disagree with their tactics, the youtube variety) call youtube islamictube/shariatube or somesuch. Hope this isn't the case.

I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

Islamia School thats not the one in Queens Park is it?

As far as I can tell youtube removes videos if enough people complain. All it takes is a few commited people to report a vid as abusive or as hate speech and the vid will be removed automatically.

They will reinstate it if you insist because they will then check it to see that it is not abusive or hate speech.

The Muslims and Christians on youtube use this tactic regularly to censor people who criticise or point out the contradictions and fallacies in their religions.

I see you have disabled comments and I understand why but it means they can't vent their spleens and denounce your video. They feel that you are able to post outrageous lies about Islam and you take away their right to reply. So they censor you through the "report abuse" system.

    Exactly.

I've seen campaigns, "Report abuse for their attacks on Islam!"

Well Hass, if you host them on our server YouTube can go get knotted. It's an option if they give you too much trouble.

I suspect it is the pictures of Islamia School - certain people complained about having their image up without their permission - I will edit it and repost and I am also happy to send all the vids to you Oz and you can put them up on your server too.  Afro

ps - yes brucepig it is the one in Salusbury Road, Queens Park - I was a teacher there for 15 years.

It's in my neighbourhood. I'm a Kilburn boy born and bred. As someone who disagrees with religious schools and thinks that government should not be funding religious institutions I always got a good vibe from that school. It has a nice community feel about it come school run time. Unlike my old scool, Hampstead School which has gangs of skunk smoking lads fighting in the streets.

I am also no-longer in favour of religious schools, but it's nothing personal against the school itself -  it's a good school and I was always very happy there - lovely kids and staff.

I noticed that video had disappeared this morning, Hassan. Fortunately, I caught it last night. Hope you have it up and running again soon. It's an important personal document. There was certainly nothing 'offensive' in it that I could see. Maybe, as you say, it's been pulled on a technicality over identifying minors. A bit petty, eh? Neil

We are not here to fight religion. We are here to make religion irrelevant. NM

Find out what the objections are first, you might be wrong.

Anyone know who I have to contact on youtube about this?

Good to be cautious about the images of people - you can blur their faces - but it could be the result of activism.  A young atheist lady in the USA recently had her account suspended because a bunch of Christians had an organised write in about her.  They simply opposed to her existence as an atheist.

Boy oh boy, imagine if all the freethinkers in the world did these sorts of campaigns against all those Christian and Muslim videos expounding on the beauty of their faith and hijab and converting away from atheism and so on.

To be fair, I wouldnt imagine that any of the devout Muslims who featured as pictured stills would be too thrilled to be a part of the video. Just like many of you wouldnt be particularly please to be in a video propogating Islam.

Yes, fair point, I think I should have thought about that when I was making it - I am removing all the pictures of Islamia School (staff and kids) now and will re-post it later.

It's funny you mention that.  I know of a few former Muslims whose images and essays are still being used to promote Islam.  I know a woman whose 'niqaab' story is still used by Salafees and others even though she's barely even a Muslim now, let alone a hijaabi or niqaabi.  And it's not like it's a big secret about her.  Anyway, it's just interesting.   cool2

Funny. I'd like to see that; if there's no risk.

I have just gone looking for one that doesn't have her full legal name and her work email address on it but the three sites where I found it had them.  I would rather not link to that from here.  A lot of people from our large circle of friends know she left hijaab and all that, but I don't want to expose her to the crazies, especially because it's her business email on there.  I'm not even sure if she knows about these reposts with her email on them. I wrote to her earlier this week to tell her about it.   Huh?

Thankfully most of her old geocities type websites about wearing niqaab and Islaam are gone now.  I've recently seen photos of her in jilbaab and such when I was still on Muslim women's forums, even though she stopped wearing it years and years ago. And again, all of the women on the board knew she didn't wear it anymore, but they still had these photos of her illustrating 'good hijaab.'  Sigh.   finmad  I never shared photos of myself in  hijaab and jilbaab. It's a good thing, or they might have my picture up there too.  Phwoar smoke queen_not_drag

Well once you have read one 'My Journey to Niqaab and My Subsequent Empowerment as a Woman Who Chose This All On Her Own Without Any Input From a Man, I Swear' story, you've read them all.
