ISLAMABAD, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- A large quantity of weapons, seized during the Red Mosque raid last year in Pakistan, had been stolen from a heavily-guarded police station in Islamabad, local media reported Monday.

The arms stored in the Aabpara police station were found missing during the weekend and the interior ministry is investigation into the case, Dawn newspaper said.

The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has suspended two senior police officers while another police officer and 14 police personnel have been arrested on charges of theft and burglary.

It is believed that duplicate keys might have been used to open the door because no locks were broken, sources said.

The missing arms include assault rifles, rocket launchers, anti-tank mines, grenades and a large cache of bullets, Dawn newspaper said.

The arms were seized by Pakistan's security forces during a raid on the militants in the Lal Masjid, or red mosque, in Islamabad, which started on July 3 and left about 102 people dead and more than 200 others injured.

Pakistan has seen a spate of violent attacks since the Red Mosque operation.
