    Allah & Hair!  grin12
This is what devout Muslims & Muslimahs are supposed to do with all the hair in their bodies, coz they belong to a religion controlling all aspects of their lives! sheikh Muslimah

    They should. Here's why:

    (5) Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Five practices are characteristics of the fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic region, clipping the nails and cutting the moustaches short." (Book #72, Hadith #777)

    (6) Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "To shave the pubic hair. to clip the nails and to cut the moustaches short, are characteristics of the fitra." (Book #72, Hadith #778)

    (7) Narrated Abu Huraira : I heard the Prophet saying. "Five practices are characteristics of the fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, cutting the moustaches short, clipping the nails, and depilating the hair of the armpits." (Book #72, Hadith #779)

(Cool Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said "Five things are in accordance with Al fitra (i.e. the tradition of prophets): to be circumcised, to shave the pelvic region, to pull out the hair of the armpits, to cut short the moustaches, and to clip the nails.' (Book #74, Hadith #312)

I admit this topic is a bit, umm gross, but Allah's instructions have to be stated about everything, down to cleaning your a**, right?  Wink

So when under the Talibanis, women are put in niqabs & men ordered to grow beards, do they also check up on the pubic hair? Phwoar

Or you can wax it? Tongue

I tried that but it didn't work :\ I'll stick to shaving. I'm scared of hair removal cream, last time I applied it it gave me a horrible rash and now I have scars on my legs :( Luckily they are only light scars.

This the answer to the question of hair removal from Islamonline.  Smiley

     Question
As-Salamu `alaykum. I have a question about shaving hair below navel. I do not know how far down to go. Should the hair from the scrotum also be removed? Please shed some light on this. And what about women? Are they also supposed to shave their hair?

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His Messenger.

Dear brother, we commend your eagerness to become well acquainted with Islam and its teachings, which is the way Allah has chosen for the welfare of His servants.

First of all, we would like to stress the fact that removing unwanted hair from the body is an act of fitrah (natural disposition). Referring to this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said: ?The fitrah consists of five things: circumcision, trimming the moustache, cutting the nails, plucking the armpit hairs and shaving the pubic hairs? (Al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

Responding to your question, Sheikh M. S. Al-Munajjid, a prominent Saudi Muslim lecturer and author, states:

"There are reports in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which indicate that the pubic hairs should be removed, as it was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ?The fitrah consists of five things, ? [one of which is] removing the pubic hairs? (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also set a time limit of forty days, and the hair should not be left any longer than that because of the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said, ?He set us a time limit of no more than forty days for trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, and shaving the pubic hair? (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

The jurists discussed the proper etiquette of removing the pubic hair and said that it is recommended to start shaving the pubic hair from beneath the navel, and to start on the right hand side, and one should also be concealed from the sight of others when doing this.

The reasons behind removing this dirty hair could also be applied to the hair on the scrotum and around the anus, if impurity gets attached to it, because the purpose is to be completely clean and pure and keep away from anything that may cause dirt and impurities to cling to the body. In this case, removing this hair is a good thing. With the regard to women, the rulings on removing the pubic hair are the same as the rulings for men."

If you are still in need of more information, don't hesitate to contact us. Do keep in touch. May Allah guide us all to the straight path!

Warning to everyone: When Allah SWT says pull out or pluck, you don't complain of pain, allright? Oorrr, you will face the far greater pain of being burnt in Hellfire in future.  Cheesy

I love Islamonline's answers, it's good to see that these Sheikhs and Imams are putting their Mosque's funding into good use by answering such questions.

It also shows the control freak aspect of Islam influenced by Muhammad's own paranoia and obsessive control freak syndrome.

I think it's incredible how Muslims don't think it's not even a little absurd that a higher being would care whether or not some stinky little human has trimmed his/her pubic hair. Come on, seriously!? Why didn't he just make humans pre-trimmed or something? Doesn't god have better things to do?  Cheesy

I certainly would not want it that way, but the texts specifically say pull or pluck for armpits and shave for scrotum.

Anyway, according to an article to-day in Jyllandsposten, the bush is getting a comeback. The days of smoothshaven private parts are pass?. This, according to a sociologist, signals that women are gaining more power.

When a woman enters a hair removing clinic, she is most likely coming for the full Monty a so called Brazilian which removes all hair from her private parts so that she looks like a little girl. This is the way it has been since the nineties.

However, the fear of hair is abating and natural pubic hair is welcomed again.

The trend wil be, that women and men will be more hairy, not like in the seventies, but the legendary Brazilian will be dropped, predicts sociologist Emilia van Hauen.

That women are preoccupied with their looks and that especially a youthful look has been desired, is due to the fact, that in times gone by women were dependant on mens protection and since men chased beauty and youth it forced the women to cultivate that side of themselves.

Now we play a much more independant role in the powerful society and we therefore no longer have the same need to submit to norms and ideals that men - or fashion - dictate. You will see more and more women recoqnize their own worth and role as women and not as girls.

So girls throw away your razors.

What really blows me away about all this is the 'fitrah' aspect... as though we're naturally hardwired to want to do this stuff.  The fact that different cultures, planet wide, have different sentiments on body hair and removal easily show that this has nothing to do with natural human disposition.

I think trimming the moustache, and leaving the beard to grow also fit in there somewhere, along with people being required to let their uni-brows run wild and free.

Fitrah means instincts, I will comment on this:
    Quote

Referring to this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said: The fitrah consists of five things: circumcision, trimming the moustache, cutting the nails, plucking the armpit hairs and shaving the pubic hairs? (Al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

Regardless of this hygienic view. Why didn't this man ever consider spiritual objectives?

Why is instinct for him, just an act to clip a nail and pluck hair (physical)? What about the fitrah of a mother to her children (family)? or that we observe most humans more predisposed to cooperate rather then compete (humanity)? or that humans can be motivated by harsh conditions (survival)? or that people are happiest when they create or when they offer help (enlightenment).

Why for Muhammad, all you have to do to get to allah is a bunch of mindless physical rituals.

Is there nothing really quite like a shorn scrotum?

"Ask the slave girl; she will tell you the truth.' So the Apostle called Burayra to ask her. Ali got up and gave her a violent beating first, saying, 'Tell the Apostle the truth.'"
