    As soon as I read this line: "Every time I tried to find a solution to all the ills of Muslim society, such as jihad, oppression of women and minorities, I was confronted with an Islamic law that stood in the way of a solution." I thought YES! Exactly. You find sound and correct scholarly rulings that seem to run contrary to anything good that you may want in your life, laughing with your friends, tackling problems of muslim communities, etc.

    Now that I've abandoned Islam I don't want to reform it anymore. I just want out of it and away from it. Though, of course, I'd willingly help those who do want to better it - but it's better coming from muslims themselves.
