  • Do the religious fear Atheist and Agnostics?
     OP - August 28, 2009, 04:15 PM

I've often wondered about this point since my apostasy. I know that when I was a muslim, I did fear atheists and agnostics, particularly my uncle. Now looking back, I attribute it to my own hidden doubts and fears. I also think that nominal muslims tend not to be so bothered about people around them who they know leaving religion. I'm almost certain that people who are more zealous tend to be more concerned. What do you think?

Of course they are. I think this is probably the reason the punishment for apostasy is death. This is also the reason why so many books/websites are banned in Saudi and why blasphemy is punishable under sharia. The religious fear that outside ideas could weaken the faith of the people and thus, weaken the religion as a whole.

Yup... religious people hate my guts.

They dont like it when i find holes in their Religions (what i do all the time).
Thats the reason, as said above, why unbelievers in most religions were/are killed... they undermine their powerbase with their stupid ideas of reason and logic...

I asked a "scholar" once why apostasy carries such a heavy penalty and was given a reply in which the undertones said it all. He said:-

"Imagine the "Ummah" as one body and imagine the apostate as a tumour. It needs to be removed before it infects the rest of the body."

So there you go. The above was a reply from a scholar. From the analogy you can detect just what a low position the apostate occupies.

or maybe the ummah is the tumor. but i wouldn't want them removed. it'll be so boring if everyone was an atheist. for one, this forum wouldn't even exist.

Well...the atheists./agnostics who live in arabian countries only have to fear as that is a dangerous country having more muslims as the punishment for apostasy is death......

Outspoken atheists and agnostics from muslim countries are extremely brave. It's a shame that we don't hear many of their accounts.

Mentioning to my Muslim friends that I do not believe in god was like telling them that I eat babies for breakfast (after raping them). The expressions on their faces were quite interesting. On a positive side a certain Muslim friend of mine remained my friend in spite of the fact that I am a Kaffir and we and both our families still socialize on regular basis.

LOL! XD I know exactly what you mean! xD

I haven't told my parents just yet, but a lot of people on my old school knew about my faith, including some Turkish muslims.
I had like 4 muslim friends, 1 of them became like my #1 enemy. xD
The others couldn't care less... xD They were cool about it, as long as I kept playing World of Warcraft with them... xD
