i can't stand listening to hebrew.. it gives me palpitations and increases my blood pressure. it sounds very harsh, however it sounds somewhat cute when native hebrew speakers speak english.. sounds similar like a french accent.

don't like the polish language either

Listening to people speak french really badly with a total american accent is like listening to someone hit a cat with a baby

Standard Albanian in Albania propper (notice the higher italian influence on the melody)

Now tell me how it sounds? for real.... I really wanna know how my mother tounge sounds to foreigners.

You know, it's funny that you say it has Italian influence because when I listened to it it sounded a lot like a cross between Russian and Italian.

    Russian.

    Shto ty skazal, malchik?

    Irish.

Thirded. Neither do I like the sound of its close relative, Gaelic.

Other than that, I dislike the sound of Spanish. The lisp makes it sound like a speech impediment. No offense.  grin12

I know this thread is a chill-out thread but I cannot resist adding some scientific wisdom.

All languages are fascinating from a memetic point of view.  There's an enormous amount of information that can be extracted from them to see how each word evolved over time and what it says about history.  But sadly too many languages are going extinct too quickly.   Cry

If you are really bored, see this video Daniel Dennett - Evolution of Language and Music.

Having said the above, I should add a +1 to this:
Don't really have a least favorite

Just that 'Mixu Paatelainen' is not the kind of name that someone would randomly think of.

South asian languages - Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu etc - are all almost crafted specifically to be annoying. Even the accents in english are annoying. They rank as the most annoying without a doubt.

Chinese and SE Asian languages (veitnames, thai) are a very weird to my ears, bordering on annoying. But I'm very interested in learning mandarin nonetheless.

Nordic languages (finnish, swedish, dutch, danish) are all very very annoying and sounds like someone stuck a vocal chord through a meat grinder.

Spanish, especially the latin american variants, can be pretty irritating if you have to hang around hispanic people all the time. Its the fastness and 'hyper' way the people speak that annoy me more than the actual language.

Farsi I find can often be quite annoying, but its a hit and miss since it depends on the speaker. Farsi has a whiny quality and combined with a whiney voice it can be very annoying, but other times it can be quite beautiful.

Some guy once taught me how to say 'My name is...' in Mandarin. Took me about a week to pronounce it properly.

But it is: 'Wo da min chao ya deng.' Sans the tones.

The Finns wouldn't like you grouping them in with the Norse. They're not a Germanic people.  Tongue

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain.

Neither would the vietnamese like me grouping them with the chinamans, but I do anyways because I could give less of a fuck. They all are the same to me, fins, nords... chinks, vietcong. Whatever.  cool2
