give me a couple of years and my garden will be stupendously lovely

Where do you live, or at least in which climate zone?

I make my living as a gardener. My back's fucked, but plants are an abiding passion.

    ^^ south east England.

Having travelled around for many years I've waited a long time for my English garden and now I'm enjoying every minute spent in it.

Still got a lot to learn about plants, but I just love working outside and can easily lose track of time out there. Know what you mean though, it's hard on the back.

I'd hate to have to garden in SE UK. Everything gets wiped out in winter. Bugger that.

    It sucking fucks.

Plus, where I live in East/SouthEast England, the water is harder than stale bread-and it makes plumbing much more expensive.

Not really wiped out; a lot of stuff dies back in winter and then grows again from its root stock in spring. Plus my copper beech tree looks beautiful at any time of year. But yeah, I have to learn more about what plants look good in winter too.

I tried gardening in SE Asia and couldn't get excited about it. Too bloody hot and humid to go outside for a start. Suppose it's what you grew up with that comes easiest.

Get a water softener put in under your kitchen or laundry room sink.  Saves on washing powder and the shower glass stays clean and clear for ages. Makes your hair lovely and soft too.

I'm thinking about it, plumber says it's about six hundred quid, when I can stomach that I'll probably go for it.

Full on tropics is a bit much. Sub-tropics are ok. Mind you, everything still goes bonkers in summer. Grin

The salt costs a bit too and it's heavy, but you can get it delivered to the house. If you go for it just make sure the plumber does not connect your drinking water or the garden tap to it.

Because everytime I fall asleep, I wake up again, even if I don't want to.

Because so far cars keep missing me when I cross the road.

Because using wet fingers on a plug socket doesn't work.

Because so far lightening hasn't struck me down.

Because life is like a box of chocolates, you won't shit it out until it's good and ready to come out.

You'd be surprised. Heaps of NSW plants do fine in London if you get the drainage right.

Having said that, I like the tropics. Love 'em.

    I don't know.

All I know is that while there's probably no afterlife, I'm not exactly making the most of this life as it is, and I've never been inspired to do very much about it.

I do have someone pretty awesome to live with, though. Which helps.

Me also, but I'm lacking the motivation to change that right now.

I'm actually starting to find meaning in life. In all the little things. It's when you look at the big picture that it all goes awry.

I live to find someone I love and build a life together, where we have children and raise them with love and support.

It might sound like a simple thing, but ultimately that's what we all exist for.

The rest of the time gaps in life we try and fill in with anything else, and make up meaning.

So for the gaps, I want to make a positive difference in the world, or even to just one persons life. Can't seem to find routes to either of those though, so I'm stuck in limbo. To make a significant contribution I must be smart (which I don't think I am) or proactive and to help a person I have to be sociable, open and warm hearted (which I'm not really).

Life's Purpose: Obtaining Self fulfillment and happiness. The causes i hope to work for when i'm an adult. Secularism and humanism.

In a nutshell trying to enjoy life as much as i can while at the same time trying to make the world a better place before i die.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

Far too much and I try to do so much in the day that I don't feel like sleeping at night since it's so boring.
