Telling comment: "I don't know how we're going to survive, because I refuse to compromise."

Now, being an idiot, it had occurred to me that living in a democratic country might just require the odd bit of compromise. Tongue

These people have not gotten over the previous american civil war and it seems like glenn beck just won't be happy until there is another one. Telling people to arm themselves is just asking for another civil war. Get the fuck over it racists, slave owners LOST. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY SEVEN YEARS AGO. Really, isn't it time to let that go already??

    Great moments in logic......................

Family Research Council calls for ‘civil disobedience’ to block same sex marriages

    Quote
The senior vice president of the Family Research Council (FRC) said on Wednesday that the civil disobedience may be necessary to prevent same sex marraiges after voters in several states approved marriage equality.

In an special broadcast titled “Election 2012: Aftermath & Aftershocks,” FRC president Tony Perkins told Senior Vice President Tom McClusky that LGBT marriage rights were still “morally wrong” even though pro marriage equality measures passed in Maine, Maryland and Washington. Voters in Minnesota also defeated a proposed amendment to codify marriage discrimination in the state’s constitution.

The people can vote on it — it’s the first time we’ve seen that [pass] — courts can rule on it, but I don’t think you can violate natural law and force Americans to recognize it as morally right,” Perkins explained.

I wonder how many people like him cannot see the problem with his statement.

Not that I'm denying his right to civil disobedience. If he and others want to protest against this, that's their prerogative. It's just weird that he seems to think a democratic vote in favour of something equals forcing Americans to recognise it.

    Hey this one is hilarous:

The end of liberty in America: Only course of action now is to fight back, electoral politics not working

    Quote
However, for me, I'm choosing another rather unique path; a personal boycott, if you will. Starting early this morning, I am going to un-friend every single individual on Facebook who voted for Obama, or I even suspect may have Democrat leanings. I will do the same in person. All family and friends, even close family and friends, who I know to be Democrats are hereby dead to me. I vow never to speak to them again for the rest of my life, or have any communications with them. They are in short, the enemies of liberty. They deserve nothing less than hatred and utter contempt.

I strongly urge all other libertarians to do the same. Are you married to someone who voted for Obama, have a girlfriend who voted 'O'. Divorce them. Break up with them without haste. Vow not to attend family functions, Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas for example, if there will be any family members in attendance who are Democrats.

Do you work for someone who voted for Obama? Quit your job. Co-workers who voted for Obama. Simply don't talk to them in the workplace, unless your boss instructs you too for work-related only purposes. Have clients who voted Democrat? Call them up this morning and tell them to take their business elsewhere.

Sometimes I wish Obama was as left-wing/progressive as these rightard nuts make him out to be. See this Barry? You're getting the hate, you might as well be doing what they accuse you of.

They're just sour because Obama isn't as far to the right as the insane Tea Party politicians they wet their pants for. Don't worry guys, he's still a Conservative in action, he still makes Conservative policies. You won.

I think these days there are two types of libertarians. Anarcho-capitalists and old-school basic government libertarians, and then racist far-right fascist fucktards who call themselves libertarians but are just too extreme for tea party rallies. The number of people on StrmFrnt who call themselves Libertarians is staggering.

Now, I don't really see eye to eye with  ACers etc, but I respect they have their own Libertarian principles. Those other fuckers should stop hijacking the term and start calling themselves what they are, Fascists.

What I find hilarious is that they insist on calling people Nazis, just because said people are not as rabid as they are. They really do seem to be completely divorced from reality. It's like they have a box labelled "Words for bad stuff" and they just pull words out of it with no regard for context.

Republican and Democrat have changed meanings since the 1964 Civil Rights Act though.  Southern Democrats were actually pretty fucking racist and huge proponents of Jim Crow laws.  When Lyndon B. Johnson, a Democrat, pushed for the Civil Rights Act, it caused rifts in both parties and what you would call Democrats today gathered around promoting the Act, and what you would normally think of Republicans were against it. Everyone then realigned themselves and switched parties. Republicans then picked up the "Southern Strategy" of implicate racism and conservativism that Southern Democrats had been using for years.

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?
