    No, but highlights included a pretty bad musical mash-up with strange social media overlay culminating with Dizzee Rascal before wheeling out Macca to put everyone to sleep. The torch design was neat, though.

    I thought the opening was really good with the music by that deaf musician I had it in full surround sound at home, it was sick, then they fucked it all up with dizzy rascal and all that other crap.

    What 211KGs? I'll believe it when I see it. I can't even left 30KGs I really find it hard to believe that a normal human being (male or female) at the age of 18 can lift 211KGs without some kind of PEDS is just bollocks.

    Team GB failed to win a medal on the mens cycling road race today.  But it wasn't due to a lack of effort. They gave it their all, and kudos to them. The other teams, except Germany, cycled negatively like they didn't want us to win because we have the world's fastest sprinter. And they succeeded in that.  Boo!!
    Well... I guess you could say we got our tactics wrong, and misjudged the abilities of some riders. :/

    I reckon Danny Boyle is secretly gay. He is that creative lol. I thought yday bar Mr Bean, The Queen with Bond (bloody brilliant) and lighting the flame were good, the rest was a waste of his talents.

    Years later I think some of it will be shown on foreign tv comedy shows to depict how odd/funny the British are.

    Billy - It's a joke. I may not have appreciated all off yday but any dude who has written, produced Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire is hugely talented. Though SM was adapted iirc.

    There have muttering in the press about the multi-culture nature of the show, (well it is better than slavery and how people of colour were treated before) and that there were so many people of colour in the show. Nowt wrong with that.

    It echoes the scenes in the third Matrix where they picture Zion, everyone is brownish with darkish hair. Like on.e day the whole will be brown.

    Ha bloody ha lol. I think I need to explain the backstory to that comment. Sorta explain the thought pattern. Seems it too much of a jump for some people.

    Hands up, til yday had always thought he was gay, don't ask me why, just never seen him with his wife and kids. So yday chatting to a mate (in car) talking about the Olympic ceremony I just mentioned that to him and he said no he isn't and I googled it and found out he had wife and kids.

    And then Danny Boyle popped up in the thread.

    Yeah, Evelyn Glennie was a highlight for me. That whole opening sequence was amazing, not least of all because of her and the epic percussion soundtrack. Like a Lord of the Rings musical. It could have gotten dark and depressing and depreciative and indulgent, but it stayed perfectly on the right side of the upbeat occasion. And the forging of the rings, that was a touch of genius. A really wonderful surprise.
