Then I don't understand. Why do you have a hard time believing it when you know it's been proven?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

It's not just about income. I can give you a list of things. Basically we're consuming more than we can replace. I think we use in a year what takes a year and a half to be replaced or something like that. That's a problem. If we are using more than we can replace we are fucked.

    Then cut back on consumption.

    Because I am stubborn.

Ok how about we can produce more food with GMF.

I think I've hit a brick wall of stupid with you on population, but I'm just curious: how do you reconcile an understanding of modern genetics and acceptance of its application with a denial of evolution?

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

Hundreds of millions would starve to death. It would be torture. Why put people in that position instead of just NOT overpopulating? I don't understand.

Well if you don't believe it then I don't really have a reply. Also, refusing to believe something you know is true isn't stubborn. I'm trying to think of a suitable word.

`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'

Would you mind giving some detail on why you find it difficult accepting as truth something you acknowledge is true? Not in a faith way, but actually backed up with a mountain of evidence. I really am perplexed at this. Not accepting something you know to be true is just...I really don't get it. It's very alien to me. Can you explain?

I don't have evidence. I am just being stubborn. I do accept most of what evolution teaches. I'm just being a stubborn faithhead.

I get that, I just don't understand it. I find the concept hard to grasp. Why would believing in god make a difference? I know many people who look at the process of evolution and it strengthens their faith.

Oh, I see. I wasn't asking you to back up your claims with evidence, I was saying that it's interesting because evolution isn't a matter of faith, it's a matter of proof and is backed up by evidence. Still the same question though as my previous post though.

I'm still confused about the evolution thing. Not believing something you now has been proven true? Just...I don't get it.

As someone, I've forgotten who, said, "You can't reason someone out of a belief that they didn't reason themselves into."  Religion, remember, is based on faith, i.e. belief without evidence. A stubborn lack of belief despite the evidence should come as no surprise. Our friend seems to be entirely sensible of this and is making no real attempt to offer any reasoned defence of her position. I suggest you do not try to delve too deeply into the kind of psychology that can support such a position - that way madness lies.

I got a 16 year old on facebook trying to tell me I am going to Hell because I am not with the born again movement. After asking me if I am religious and I replied by saying yes, she tells me God hates religion. I sent a reply stating Christianity is a religion as it has a belief system, worship and doctrine. Guess I'll ad her to the list of people who say I am going to Hell and have accused me of being a closet Atheist.

yeah,  sucks huh? my list of hellbound threats is 1 more than yours.

I am better than your god......and so are you.
