She's my favourite pagan atavism. Originally a goddess, now hidden subversive force, synonymous with the Tree of Life itself.

There is a rumour that she is worshipped by religious abortionists, because she is the goddess of child sacrifice.

There is a book called 'The Sacrament of Abortion'. The author is quite open about it. Also, if you drive through an abortion center parking lot, alot of the employees' cars will have pagan bumper stickers...or at least some will. Others are more discreet...the high level ones.

Liltith may also be Diana, Heckate or even Kali (I think).

Are you saying that abortion is a pagan conspiracy?

I don't know. It's like trying to figure out which came first....the chicken or the egg. I'd have to say the abortion industry attracts pagans, but not everyone in the industry is a pagan.

Alot of it is big money and big science....but pagans like it.

Which country do you live in? (I'm tempted to ask which planet you live on Wink ) I have certainly not noticed anything of the sort.

Re my position when I was a Muslim, I always believed it was a woman's right to choose. I hold the same position now.

As a Minnesotan,I'm a definite minority on the pro-life issue. There are alot of active pro-life ministries, but they are mostly Roman Catholic or ecumenical. I am from Minnesota. It is a liberal state (on the planet earth LOL).

I thought that Muslims were pro-life. Was the Madrassa where you professored a moderate one?

Abortion is not such a big issue in Islam as it is in Christianity (it is also not such a big issue in the UK as it is the States.)

The School where I was a teacher did not take a position on the matter.

Is it the connotation that you object to or is there a difference between a school and a madrassa? I thought a madrassa was simply the Arabic word for school.

But then, I suppose if a person is conversing in English, it wouldn't make sense to use the word madrassa. It would be like saying "I speak Espanol" or "Iranians speak Farsi".

Americans tend to look at the U.K. to see where we are heading. Some of our states are already there, like Oregon.

Yet, there is still a number of us that see progressivism as the devaluation of human life and a decline of responsibilities in morals, rule of law and basically the Judeo-Christian conscience that made us at one time a decent country.

How can a country be "great", if it isn't first of all, "good".?

Now Obama is using our tax-payer money to fund abortions overseas, and he wants to federally reverse all restrictions to Roe. vs. Wade. Why is he so in love with abortion?

I didn't notice any objection to the word Madrassa, but that Hassan likes the word "teacher" rather than "professor". I think Americans prefer "professor". But if he's rather I say "school" than "madrassa", I will say "school" and also "teacher" if he wants.

The reason I said school and not Madrassa is that although Madrassa means school in arabic - it is often used these days in the popular press to refer to the madrassas in Pakistan and other Muslim countries that are quite extreme in nature.

Islamia School is not much different from any modern UK school - I don't want ppl thinking I was a teacher at some Middle-Ages type place where they all sat rocking back-and-forth reciting Qur'an on the floor while a round well fed Mullah sat on a comfy armchair with a stick in his hand.

That's what I figured and can't blame you. That's the mental image most people get when they think "madrassa".

Speaking of Islamia, I saw a documentary on Yusuf Islam on PBS about a month ago. It was pretty interesting and really made me see him in a different light.

While I don't agree with many of his views (obviously), I can see where he was treated unfairly in the press and how a caricature was created of him and how it took on a life of its own.

I also didn't know he was good friends with Dolly Parton. I can't say I've ever really been a huge fan of her music, but she is probably one of the most kind-hearted people in entertainment and she speaks highly of Mr Islam. That probably carried as much weight with me as anything else said in the documentary.

Yusuf is a nice guy. I also obviously don't see eye to eye with him as far as religion goes. But he's a really nice guy and anyone who knows him can't help but like him. He has a child-like innocence that is really endearing. Though he can be a hard task master and well... old-fashioned.

Allright, but he still supports the death penalty for apostasy in so-called Islamic States. Something which he didn't give up believing in after he had drifted away from the Salafi influences. I know this from a FAQ on one of his official webpages. He even tries to make it seem less horrible by pointing out similarly horrible punishments in the Bible.

I will never respect Yusuf Islam as a person until he renounces that particular view.

"...Will you then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me?..." (18:50)

The word used in the Qur'an is thuriyyah which means offspring/seed.

I know many Muslims regard this as simply referring to his 'metaphorical' children, but I just thought it was funny that one commentator said it can only mean Satan had a spouse (zawjah) since one cannot (literally speaking) have "progeny" without having a partner.

I wonder if she nags him or complains about why is he always late home and he says he had to work late on a stubborn believer. Or his daughter rebels and threatens to worship God. Or his son's teacher rings home complaining that his son is being 'good' again!  grin12

I would think that Shaytaan's wives wouldn't last with him, being that he's been granted respite until yowm al-qiyaamah, and they haven't. Doesn't even need to be wives; babys' mamas grin12.

     Huh?

    It's all Greek to me.

Satan is granted time to bother the children of Adam til the day of Judgment, essentially making him immortal, whereas with the female jinniyah/demons he cohabitates with aren't. And he doesn't necessarily have to marry them, they could just be fornicating Tongue

I agree with you, though, I also can't respect a person who supports the death sentence for apostates. The only thing I will say for many Muslims who pay lip-service to such Shari'ah laws is that in their heart they do not really support it - but don't feel able to oppose Shari'ah Law publicly, for fear of bringing their own faith into question.

If they live in a muslim country in which archaic laws are still practised then I can understand that stance, but if they live in a free country, I can not understand it.

I must have been the worst muslim ever because I never even paid lip service to those things, I argued til I was blue in the face regardless of the consequences, and believe me there were always consequences to be paid after.

When would Satan find time for a wife or wives. Afterall

    - he spends the night giving people bad dreams (Sahih Bukhari 87:115)
    - he spends the night in the interior of peoples noses (Sahih Muslim 2:462)
    - he spends the night tying three knots at the back of peoples head and breathes the following words at each knot, 'The night is long, so keep on sleeping. (Sahih Bukhari 54:491)
    - he urinates in our ears if we don't get up for prayer (Sahih Bukhari 21:245)

And since its always night time somewhere on the earth, Satan would be busy 24/7 with those activities.

Knowing Islam is the only true religion we do not allow propagation of any other religion. How can we allow building of churches and temples when their religion is wrong? Thus we will not allow such wrong things in our countries. - Zakir Naik

I forgot which website it was, however I searched for it and found it again: http://www.yusufislam.com/faq/3ed8ab9cb40dcd15dc38b7f0efc2f696/

Question: Didn't He Say ‘Kill Rushdie!’?
    Quote from: Yusuf Islam
I never called for the death of Salman Rushdie; nor backed the Fatwa issued by the Ayatollah Khomeini – and still don’t. The book itself destroyed the harmony between peoples and created an unnecessary international crisis.

When asked about my opinion regarding blasphemy, I could not tell a lie and confirmed that – like both the Torah and the Gospel – the Qur’an considers it, without repentance, as a capital offense. The Bible is full of similar harsh laws if you’re looking for them.[1] However, the application of such Biblical and Qur’anic injunctions is not to be outside of due process of law, in a place or land where such law is accepted and applied by the society as a whole.

    ...

[1] In Exodus 20:7 the Third Commandment openly states, “You shall not take the name of The Lord in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless”. It also says in Leviticus 24:16, “And he who blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregations shall surely stone him.” Again, quoting Matthew, 12: 31-32, Jesus is reported to have said, “Every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit, shall not be forgiven.” In addition regarding other crimes it says in Leviticus 20: 14, “And if a man take a wife and her mother he shall be burnt with fire”; also in Leviticus 20: 15, “if a man lies with a beast, he shall surely be put to death,” and in Exodus 21:17, “Anyone who curses his father and mother must be put to death.”

I guess I remembered it incorrectly as he explains his opinion about blasphemy, which also makes him very much unworthy of respect. Needless to say, blasphemy is such an elastic term that the majority in an Islamic State could easily define open apostasy as a form of it. You would presumably never be able to air your opinions about Islam in the public or in any available form of media, because of course you'd be inviting people to kufr and you'd be spreading fitna. Blasphemy laws only inhibit a person's freedom of expression, because you don't even have to make fun of religion but just write a serious critique of it, and most deeply religious people would call for banning it and punishing you.

Well, some people think the anti-christ is going to be gay, and since the anti-christ is a mockery of the second person of the Trinity, he is therefore "the devil come in the flesh", so to speak.

That would mean all three members of the unholy trinity are probably gay.
