Exactly. I used to say, well if we're like brother/sister before we get married, then when we get married, does that mean we're marrying our sister??  dance

Your family sounds a lot more tolerant than mine. I also have a very laid back dad who isn't really religious (except when he wants to use the dogma that if you do 'uff' at parents you go to hell  whistling2) but my mom is super-religious and keeps telling me to say my prayers etc. But all of my brothers & sisters.. with the exception of one who lives in Australia, are quite religious and they already keep calling me 'gora' and 'kafir'  yes. And I have some super religious cousins & uncles, so I really think its better to keep a low profile for now and to not officially admit my apostacy until I leave PK again. But I'm surprised that your family is so cool with it, wish there were more people like them around  Afro.

Incidentally this is also the reason I didn't stay with my parents when I returned from Aus, instead I rented a flat to live by myself in another city, and next week I am moving to murree which they're also trying to talk me out of  dance. I plan to stay there in murree until I move back to Aus in 1-2 years.

By the way, how do you access this forum, directly or through a proxy? Do you think it is safe to access it directly,  we won't be monitored by the ISP, etc?

Well I have had some VERY uncomfortable moments with my other relatives (who are very close and their opinions often matter in this society)
    Observe: http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=7597.0

I too just want to get the hell out of this country because I know I cant live the way I now want by being stuck here, yes I'll miss this fucking country because it has been my home but unless the people get their act together here and eliminate the nonsense here, apni madad aap it is for me.

I have enough academic qualifications to get a work permit in UK easily, its just about the finances arrangement which is a REAL test for me and my family - who also want me to work outside Pakistan because they know the people here will never take someone like me seriously unless I go down on my knees and fucking blow the babu running the show and are very supportive about it - too bad they are in a real financial fix to facilitate my move.

LOL, Murree?  Cheesy Wow, I hope you at least get a good job in those parts - but watchout for Pindiwaals and all the rural junk from Pakistan coming there and clogging the place in summer times, horrible time to visit Murree. Nathia Gali is brilliant.

I access this forum directly; being the maverick in this regard.  Tongue

Actually I work as a freelance programmer thru the internet so I can work from basically anywhere with an internet connection.. I just figured that Murree has better scenary. What's wrong with it otherwise? Its actually the first time i'll visit  piggy

What financial arrangements do you need to do to get a work permit for the UK? I thought that all you'd need would be to get a job offer?

Well make sure you get a good internet connection there first and foremost.

That's the thing, because of recession I cant get a job offer from UK but I can apply for a work permit based on my educational credentials and showing a decent financial earning over the last year or so (which isnt the case, since I am already overqualified for this country and the people dont want to pay me as much as I deserve)

How can you be over-qualified - there are lots of educated people in Pakistan?

I am 23 years old, and have both a BSc and MPhil degree from UK in Textile Engineering (a mistake I chose this field)...a field that is collapsing because of increasing tariffs and quotas fixed as well as a busting power crisis in Pakistan.

Pakistan's textile sector is doomed, and people who own businesses are either packing up or hiring those who they can gave a shit pay rather than give them something they deserve because of our educational credentials.

Your still young - academic qualification rarely count for much unless you have experience to match.  However pay will always be better outside of a third world country..

This is a bit strange, you need to show good financial earning in order to get a job offer? Why would they care about that?

Have you tried applying for a job somewhere else other than UK, like Australia/USA/Canada/South africa, etc?

I think you might qualify for skilled migration to Australia if you have a degree as a textile engineer from the UK

Also, I think you should use Hidemyass.com to access this forum, its exactly the same speed as when using it directly.. and probably a lot more secure

Yes, PTCL's DSL is good. I use it here.

No for a work permit to legally go and search work in UK for 3 years without the need for a proper job offer as a highly skilled migrant worker. Then any proper job can be given company support to extend work permit.

Yes I have tried, but so far no luck. I still need to show good finances for Australia as well.

Have you tried looking for work online and applying to jobs, seeing if you get a job offer that way?

If you need to show financial info, the best way IMO would be to have a wealthy family member like an uncle/aunt basically put some $$ in your bank for 6 months or however long you need to show it for. I think it is only 1 month for UK anyhow.
