"What happens when we're dead? The irony is that all our questions wil be answered after we die. We spend our whole life trying to figure out the truth and the only way we'll find out what it is, is to get hit by a bus. And the only comfort that religion offers is that God is driving that bus." - John Ryman, When Galaxies Collide

I saw this comment / quote on Nessrriinn's video:

    "Man-made Gods create man-made atrocities."

Also, forgot where I read this but it stuck out:

"Human rights belong to humans, not religion."

Whoever this spammer is (and I think I know who it may be), I know there's a real human behind the keyboard who cares as much, or even more, about the cause than we do.

All that this continuous spamming will lead to is the mods freezing each new account until its been verified properly, like before and delay/prevent new joiners from coming on board immediately if that what they want to do.  It wont change anybody's mind here, apart from perhaps think of FFI ( I assume thats where you are from) in e more negative fashion.

If you think this place is rubbish and slag us off, come out and say it out in the open.  You wont be banned, its always interesting to hear all points of view. Afro

My grandmother said something similar about the Bible.  She thought reading the Bible would make her a Protestant.

“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” - Albert Einstein

I would actually use that in my sig were it not for the stupid character limit.

I noticed The Office (UK series) had some very deep undertones to it. Brownie points because he's a well-renowned atheist and hilarious at that.  Wink

"You grow up, you work half a century, you get a golden handshake, you rest a couple of years and you're dead. And the only thing that makes that crazy ride worthwhile is 'Did I enjoy it? What did I learn? What was the point?'" - Ricky Gervais / The Office.

"A philosopher once wrote you need three things to have a good life. One, a meaningful relationship, two, a decent job of work, and three, to make a difference. And it was always that third one that stressed me, to make a difference. And I realise that I do. Every day, we all do. It's how we interact, with our fellow man." - Ricky Gervais / The Office.

    ===============

A great quote from Richard Dawkins that I've overlooked until now...

"After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked -- as I am surprisingly often -- why I bother to get up in the mornings." - Richard Dawkins

"One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching."

"I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well." - Diane Ackerman

"“The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.”

'We live on a spec of dust floating in a sunbeam but humans are a special part of the Universe.

We are the way the cosmos understands itself' Sagan

Where is that from? I like it but can't find in that form.

Edit: It just occurred to me that it may be two separate quotes.... .

That's funny. My dad always compares his daughters to the fingers on his hand. I have no idea what point he tries to make. Also, he has four daughters. <3 my papa.

He's no friend to the friendless
And he's the mother of grief
    There's only sorrow for tomorrow
    Surely life is too brief

The bottom line is that its parents shifting the burden on what they see as their failures in raising their kids, and instead putting them on Gods shoulders and making it his fault instead.

He is assuming I believe in Allah, which is still related to the circular reasoning argument.

Here is another quote from a Muslim I will not name.

"He [the prophet Muhammad] also said that not to question too much as it leads to corruption and weakens your emaan [i.e. faith]."

Obviously.  Seems like a great way to preserve his cult, eh...

Sorry, I don't know.  The context was as follows:
"It is necessary to know that deen [religion] is not based on logic. This was the downfall of the Jews and Christians. In numerous Hadiths we are called upon to follow the commands of Allah as practised and demonstrated by the prophet PBUH."

Anyway, I was thinking of buying a T-shirt with:
